Post Amplifier Placement.

I'm finally in the finishing stages of finishing my sound system. I am looking for advice on where to put my amps. I can't really do the foot well of the rear seats because ocasionally people sit there (I know I'm cruel) and I do plan to travel with it so I would like some luggage space. Nevertheless I cannot seem to find the right space for the two. One amp is a Alpine F240 and the other one is a T130. So you have any suggestions I would greatly appriciate it.

Hi Noel,

I found a couple of interesting spots for amp placement.
Follow this link

<a href="http://groups.msn.com/thediygang/soundsystemfromhell.msnw?albumlist=2" target="_blank">http://groups.msn.com/thediygang/soundsystemfromhell.msnw?albumlist=2</a>

It is the documented procedure for what I have done so far.....

Hope it helps?

Do you have rear A/C or the Glove Box? (maybe neither)

For now I have a 100w 6.5" Bazooka in the rear hatch, but I have yet to tear out the door panels and rear quarters to install the new 4X6 Clarion plate speakers I recently got. While i have it all out, I am going to prewire for a Class D amp to reside in my rear glovebox hole and two 6" subs installed in the quarters next to each rear seat (1 sub per side). Just as soon as i work up the nerve to cut holes in for them. The bazooka is nice but i want to have a more permanent solution and put the bazooka in my truck.

I put the large 5ch Alpine amp in the spare tire well (along with two cans Fix-a-Flat)

I put the Nav. and XM receivers under the drivers & pass. seats (silver units in pic)

I have my a/d/s powerplate amp behind one of the rear seats - mounted to the back. Its enclosed in a frame matching the seat back contours and covered in open weave speaker cloth. Not quite sure how it was done since it was in the car when I got it. Its very well done and its very practical - out of the way - not at all obvious and doesn't get hot at all. You could of course do both sides. some photo's:

I also have my CD changer in the back on the tool shelf with carpet flap cover. I find this fairly practical too - eacy access and doesn't get in the way really - its also shielded for view & sun by the wing (as well as the carpet flap).

Eric, what type of monitor do you have? Audiovox? Also, what type of GPS system did you end up getting?

I have looked at the Street Pilot III but I want a larger screen.

Here is where my AMP is - on the passenger shelf. I have a nice cover over it.

Jerry, I used the Alpine CVA-1003 head unit that has a flip-out 7" screen, it was the only one they had that would accept the Alpine DVD based nav. unit and the Alpine XM receiver (it also has one aux. aud/vid input).
