Advantages of 968 Rings?

I am thinking about pulling my motor for a R&R and in the past have seen mention of using 968 rings. Can you please educumfate me on the benefits of using 968 rings in our motors?

the benefit is using 968 pistons, because they are 3mm bigger in diameter and that gives you a bigger motor

No benefit if you try and put 104mm rings on a 100mm piston!

104 mm pistons in the 968. The 951 (944 turbo) has 100 mm rings and some believe they are/were made from better materials for the boosted application.
