When fitting new twist grips to my motorbikes i use a thin smear of Fairy liquid - easy to get on, then as it evapourates the grips stay solid. When refitting my own maff i just persevered - helps if everything is bone dry - not easy this time of year! Congrats on a great write up!

Bert...........paint works better; spray inside the twist grip, slide on the handlebar and let set. It drys and is very strong not pervious to 'some' rain.

Adrian...........I'd clean off that p.jelly asap and use some elbow grease to fit the MAF and tighten securely; yes its a pain but well worth the effort to ensure that air tight seal.

Question Blue injector harness clips

StratfordShark,

In your very first post, you mentioned that you had replacements for the blue injector harness clips. Where did you get them? Do you know the PET # for them?

I'm doing the intake refresh on my GTS and all 6 of mine broke. Roger Tyson is trying to track replacements down, but without much luck. Any info you can provide will be a great help.

Thanks,
Tom

P.S. This thread has been a great help to me.

The clips referenced are to secure the FI harness to the fuel rail............I used regular ty-wraps.

Its not like the harness can go far but any restraint may prevent abrasion of the outer wrap.

Hi Tom,

I got mine from 928 Specialists, they are listed as 'Harness Retaining Clip blue 16mm'.

$0.59 each

I got them in advance so wasn't concerned about breaking the old ones, but they were all very brittle and pretty much all snapped when squeezed together to free from the mounting holes. The new ones are much springier and can be installed and removed with no risk.

During the project I needed a couple of the smaller ones (white or grey, forget which) and just got them from local Porsche dealer. I did find the p/n in PET but it takes a bit of digging as I think they are not specifically numbered on diagram, just listed as 'clamps'.

As above posted said you can just use tie wraps instead, but I loved getting everything back to how it was!

Glad this thread has been helpful.

Thanks - I like putting things back the way they were, also.

Tom,

We put together a list of those 10+ years ago. Go to my website www.928gt.com and search for Harness Retaining Clip . This will bring up all of those clips used in various locations on 928s along with color, size, and part numbers.

Hope that helps,
