Default my new Porsche 928 mechanic!!!

last night out of boredom, I got Russell #2 (age 12 years young) to help with piston removal on a 4.5L I have just taking up space in my garage.....

I mostly supervised.....fun to watch him getting into it.

Great job Dad! I sure wish I had someone to teach me how to work a block. I was also wondering off hand, do you know if a 1000 lb engine stand is enough for a 928 engine?

Reminds me of when i was a kid. My dad would set me loose with some tools and whatever engine/car that needed disassembly. Great job. I'm keeping the 11 year old busy in our garage.

On another note, I took her by Rogers place on Friday and she had a blast looking at all the donor cars. Calling parts out by name. Kid in a candy store. Then she found a hood crest on a burnt hood that she wanted for her back pack. Roger gave it to her, bless his heart.

That's great Russ. My son, Gabriel, is 9 and he's a tiny bit interested. But more interested in when I can take a break and throw the football around with him.

Great to see a younger generation involved with cars. It's scary to think that someday kids will stop looking at cars as a hobby and eventually only think of them as a necessary evil.

Good job Russ!

Oh, he's already got his own.....won't wear them just yet, and it was cold that evening so it didn't last long--just enough to knock the piston/rod assemblies out.

Got his own tool two box cabinet as well, stocked up.

It's the only way I can keep him out of my tools-

Now.....if I could just keep Deb out of my tool box.

That's what I call some quality Dad & Son time Russ.

The only problem I can see is that you need to get the boy a bigger hammer, I don't think that one is "Porsche regulation."
