Dont know about that, it looks a bit bigger than a tranny jack.
I once saw a movie about gangsters - David caruso, Nick Cage? There was a scene at a car stripping yard of a Rolls on a hoist, and guys working on it. As they stepped back, somebody yelled, and the whole chassis assembly fell out of the body and bounced on the ground as a complete unit. looked pretty good.

we always take the cars apart by dropping the entire driveline . A normal two post asymetrical lift raises the body . Four jack stands support the driveline we have done HUNDREDS that way !!!
My thought was to weld up a square-tubed claw similar to the pic above to go over the car, with 4 RV stabilizers (or the like), to lift the body, and roll it off the drivetrain.
Jim - how do you unbolt the drivetrain while it is on the lift?
Brendan - I scanned the pic from an '81 dealer brochure. Look in the background at the see-thru 928 poster and waiting engines.
I wonder when that pic was taken. These cars WERE hand built, for all intents and purposes.
Not handbuilt as imagination will tell us. Have you seen the 1977 Zuffenhausen pictures ? The picture shown as definately genuine Porsche 928 manufacturing in Zuffenhausen
When it comes time to go through my 88 S4, I'll probably do this. I do have a two post, asymmetric, lift in my shop. I dropped the entire driveline out of my 87 Corvette using this method, with a transmission jack under the rear end and a hydraulic table supporting the engine/front crossmember. Made for an easy engine/driveline drop!
