Sunroof Replacement?

Hey all,
Do any of you think it is possible to replace the sun roof with a permanent (or even manual) clear or tinten lexan panel, and have it seal correctly for daily use?
This way, you could achieve close to the weight savings that noon-sunroof cars have, but still let the moon-light in...
I understand that racers have replace the area with either a panel, or, like Devek, simply replaced the whole roof panel with fiber.
All that weight up there is worth more than weight, say, at the bottom of the car.
Whadaya'll think?

Brendan,
I was also thinking of that not too long ago. The big reason with me is not for weight saving (although that is a very good reason), but for more headroom. My seat is as low as it gets and my head just touches the headliner. Everytime I go for a ride and then get out I end up looking like I have a flatop haircut (not pretty on me...). Of course, if the sunroof worked on my car then maybe I would think differently.

Finding a body shop to Remove and Replace the entire roof section with a factory non-sunroof panel would be the ultimate way to do this mod.
If you live or could justify taking your car to a state were it hales a lot every year would be your best bet to finding a body shop that has done this work many times before.
In the Denver Colorado (sub. of) area there is a place called Fender Menders that I would recommend(Ask for Bob). They do two or three a year!
