Factory 928 Cup racers?

This has been mentioned before as some kind of fix for oiling issues. How exactly does it differ from normal 928 setup? 928 parts are just simple ball bearing ball and spring to prevent oil draining back down from head. Is 944 setup more complex and have other functions as well? Will it for example prevent oil going to head if pressure is below certain level? In theory 928 spring does that too but its so weak that it will not have any meaningful effect on rod bearing problems for example.
Constantine, the gearbox cooler was fitted in the hollow space behind the rear PU. There was a cut out to aid airflow where the number plate is usually found. As with regards to the rear suspension - I doubt you can modify the pick up points substantially, having spent many hours in there...
My brother speaks fluent German, so I will try and get him to call the people and businesses mentioned in the articles - you never know
P.S. A time of 10min for the combined Nordschleife and the Grand Prix track at the Nurburgring is very, very good. FYI, the Aston Martin N24 was running 9:56 in this year's 24hrs...

Hmm, the plot thickens a little bit :
The Gruppe H car was driven in 1991 in the Nurburging Langstreckenpockal series by Knuth Mentel, Roland Kussmaul and none other but Walter Rorhl!!! A bit more googling reveals that Knut Mentel seems to be a reasonably good race driver, but Roland Kussmaul is one of Porsche's top race engineers - his notable works include the 959, the GT3, Carrera GT, the RS Spyder and many other Porsche models. Kussmaul also competed successfully in the Paris-Dakar Rally in a 911SC 4x4 and a 959. Walter Rorhl does not need an introduction...
By the looks of it, that car was supported by Porsche to a much larger extent than we realise. Otherwise, what were the last two drivers doing there?

Mark,
From what I can see and from one of the letters which mentions shortening the intake runners was needed to make more HP in the 928 engine, it would not be that hard (famous last words) to use stainless steel tubing and sheet stainless steel to fab up something similiar.
The S4 and S3 intakes are made of a alloy that I don't think is easily worked.

398hp
rims were 12.5 front and 13.5" rear.
I wish the intake pictures were a little better. looks like a big plennu with runners of a very short size, running to the cylinders. I think this might be easy to fabricate using parts from our own S4 intake.
anyone got an old S4 intake or better yet, an 86 intake i could buy cheap and do a first pass??
I think i would make it so it would incorporate a larger throttle body, maybe from a VET and our MAF, with the larger tube to enclose it.

Mr. Cheburator,
Cool stuff! Thank you for digging up more information on this whole affair. It seems there is a lot more to this whole story than many imagined as you said.
Do you know how much the TTP 928 went for?
And I think getting your brother to do more snooping is a grand idea! If he's up for the challenge.
