Yep definitely 27mm.. I just replaced my timing belt this week so have become intimiate with the crank bolt. Was a bugger to get off.. previous mechanic who changed the belt certainly exceeded the 218 foot pounds!

see if the car you just bought has a seized engine?
UH OH, shouldn't you be saying see if the car you are THINKING about buying has a seized engine?

try to get a deep 27mm socket ( impact socket is better) because you may have to remove the nut with an impact wrench , its usually easier to do it this way

I bought a 3/4" torque wrench from JC Whitney or Harbor Frieght, can't remember which, for about $60 on sale. Works great. I don't have to use a breaker bar because of the long handle. With the 3/4 size, I don't have to worry about snapping my tools (which I've done using a 1/2" drive), and the torque range goes up to 350 lb/ft. Makes the whole job very easy. Also good for removing and replacing rear axle nuts. 1 1/16" socket fits just right.

I actually had a 1-1/16" socket (not deep), but it worked perfectly. I removed my steering wheel to get to my ignition better. My bad news is, I removed all the plugs and 6 looked normal with possiblility of a rich mix. 2 didn't look so good. 1 was wet with not much carbon on it "I think this may be head gasket issue." The other had a little bit of white crystals on it "not much but there were some." I removed the 2 plastic covers to reveal the TB and it looked fine and in good shape as far as I can tell. The problem is when I try to turn the engine (clock) with the crank bolt, no turno. Well, I remember the mechanic told me yesterday to remove the plugs and put some Marvel Mystery oil down the cylinder and let it sit for a few days if it didn't turn. Well, just did that and will let it sit over the holidays and see what happens. Any input on the spark plug descriptions?
