Default Help - a drinking "partner" needed

I'm headed out the door to go look at another 928 for sale.
Someone please help
How many is just too much?
It's a '83 auto - supposedly the engine runs and the guy has no wheels.
Some one come drag me out of this bar

Easy man, easy.

Now just move away from the bar, that's it. Come on, we're gonna get through this. How many of yours are running? Got some scheduled maintenance to do? That's right. You don't need any more projects right now.

You can get this one, but only if you sell one of your other cars.

One running - the last one I bought is now the daily driver.
In fact I ran the 40 miles home with the SO in the lead when no other traffic was present. She's sweet!
I paid $1,000 for the Euro - invested $350 more, and a bit of time, and drive it to work every shift.
Maybe I'm tired - I just finished 5 straight 24 hr shifts.....
I have the wheels - and the 86.5 is the current project It's the one that went for a salt water swim - UBTCMDR ain't got nothin on this kid
(oh yeah, lets not count that I'm decking the heads on the 911 this week and trying to get it back together...)
I'll just go "take a look"
The kid says he gave $3,300 for it as a dream a couple years ago and knows it needs to find a good home. For $500 - if it just sits in the shark cave - I needed the alternator and fuel pump last week -
Parts car?

Move to Denmark or Norway. High car taxation will limit such urges very efficiently. In Finland tax level isn't high enough anymore. There are people with two or even three 928's in here nowdays.

I couldn't agree more. I think the 86.5 5 sp would be the best one to give up in light of your "condition".

Send me a PM and I'll be happy to help a brother out. (seriously). Heh heh....

Not to worry - I looked at the car - I had about a hour going over the suspension - wasted - the interior is trashed big time - no way to see if it runs as the tranny has no fluid, the drain plug is stripped out The wheels are gone and it's sitting on chebbie rims or something. Control arms in front and rear are bad... Car has been sitting for at least a year
It reminds me of the last 55 ft Chris Craft I looked at - by the time I was done pointing out what wasn't any good - the guy offered me $1,000 to take the boat. I still turned it down!
Anyway - if someone wants a '83 that only needs a few thousand dollars invested - give me a shout....

Too funny "55 ft Chris Craft I looked at - by the time I was done pointing out what wasn't any good - the guy offered me $1,000 to take the boat. ..." There was a guy on Graigslist LA trying to get someone to help him take his old boat out and SINK IT !! He offered to pay ! Here the slips often transfer with the boat so junk boats can sell for big money. Then you can move in your new boat......once you get rid of the old one

Slip space here is too dear to waste on junker boats, yet a tour of the local marinas will inevitably net you a few that barely deserve to float. Like under-that-pile-of-stuff-in-the-garage 928's I guess. It was a dream when purchased, turned out to be more expensive and time-consuming than I ever thought possible. Now it's a cherished memory and a rusting/sinking hulk that takes up space.

Too bad about the Chris, and too bad about the 928. These are classics that need constant love, care and attention to keep them nice. And if you think that the costs of 928 resto parts are a little high, go shopping for boat parts. Hint-- There is no 'Chris-Craft International' to call for next-day delivery of original parts.

LOL, true - we have the ultimate cure for that, unfortunately...

Cheers,
