We have some ideas for this, but these are yet to be investigated and costed fully.. too early to say if this is possible.

In any event this would be many months away.

Wasn't there a Gunther several years ago that would come to you and custom tune your chips on a local dyno?

I think the ~$900 ST you were referring to is actually and ST2, which is currently not compatible with the '85-'86.

I have a ST that I bought 1.5 years ago and used on the gts with a raptor sc and did wonders.....It uses the reprogramable chip you install . I don't think by itself it would mesh with your car. May be John speake can see what I need to accomodate you guys and then just arrange shipment.

Yes, we offer the ST2 at $920 complete with a pair of PEMs for the S4 and later cars. This was an "introductory price" but I am holding it at this price for another couple of months as the exchange rate has moved in my favour.

At present the only option for 85/86 cars is ST1 with the 85/86 option. I have a couple in stock. The price would be $2150 with break out box etc.

Suggest you cast around for someone in the USA to loan you an ST1 85/86 version.

Your other option is to find someone with an ST1 S4 and later version, and pay the cost of the 85/86 conversion. But this would cost ca $700 USD including the break out box.

So is anyone ready to go in:
I always thought that if a few of us purchased a ST we could rent it out. The best way would be to use Pay Pal and obtain a deposit for the cost of the equipment and refund the difference once the unit is returned. This is not so much a way to make money but to provide a needed service.
It is hard to justify the cost for a one shot considering the whole system can be replaced by a Mega Squirt for 1/2 the cost. For the average owner who has added an X-pipe, Adj Fuel Pressure, Larger Injectors and played with the intake this would squeeze a few more H.P. For us crazy S/C and modified guy's it's an necessity, but hard especially in this economy to justify this purchase.
If anyone is serious let's put something together, or if you have one why not rent it out using the Pay Pal option. My garage is always open to any one needing a lift or help but never have seen this offer go out to our community.
Is your shark tuner gathering dust do you not have the 85-86 option I'm sure we can pull something together.

I have a ST1 with the 85/86 option including breakout box, also chip burner and TechEdge WB. The ST software and Sharkplotter software is on a dedicated laptop with a serial port. I bought Peter L in OZ's set up and it was updated by John S for 85/86. I am in the process of ST my 85 with a lot of help from a friend of mine (he's doing almost everything ). Because of our schedules it is taking a while and I don't know when I'll be done but since I know Crazy Mike and "he's in" I won't mind helping out. A few things: before being returned to me I would want the ST sent to John S to be checked over (with all costs covered), I'll need to check that the chip burner and WB are undamaged, and I won't be able to offer support or answer any questions about anything, or be liable for anything. The rental cost should be "the going rate" I don't know what that is but am open to suggestions and am sure we can reach an agreement, again I am going on my trust, in this case, with Crazy Mike.

Hey - I resemble that remark...
I mean like who wouldn't trust a beach bum who lives on a boat with no permanent address that they met on the internet - especially with a name like Crazy Mike?

Mike
He resembles that
I like your idea, and by using Pay Pal and backing it up with John's check over this might even work!!
So don't forget about us please!!!!

When do I need it 2-Years ago, how long; as long as it takes to drive both cars to the Dyno! There are several members in my area that could use this, I even have my Computers ready to connect on the 86 S/C car. If you ever followed my rebuilds I move pretty fast I'm not one to wait to get things done except for this application!

Strongly advise the use of a knock detect system, idleally a knock control system.....
