My GTS has a new home w/ a real car guy! (cool car pics too)
Remember the poster where the caption said something about higher education?
Perhaps you saw my mentions of selling my GTS (perhaps you didn't and you don't care either - fair enough) in a couple posts lately. Well, it's true I did sell it. I have been talking to the guy who bought the car since last winter. Eventually the conversation got around to me selling him my 95 GTS. In the beginning I told him there was no way I would ever sell my car. The more we talked and the more I thought about selling it and the more I was convinced he should have the car. The decision then became whether or not I could part with it. As you can see from the pictures he has very good taste in cars and quite obviously the financial wherewithal to have any car he desires. If you have ever had a car and wished you could hand pick the person you would sell to you'll understand my motivation for selling him my GTS. The last 4 928s I've sold have gone to really good homes. For example, I just got an email from Gary, the owner of my red 93 GTS and he absolutely loves the car! My black GTS is at a great home in CT and my 89 GT has a great home in San Diego. The only two 928s I sold that make me sad is the two 89 S4s I had. One ended up with H via a long and sorted route through TX & CA and the other (my first 928) was a POS to start with and I wouldn't be surprised if it's not even road worthy any longer. I know, this GTS will be taken care of like I took care of it and it will never be lacking the proper care.
The car now resides in Northern, VA with its new owner. He is a great guy and who I now consider a friend. His desire is to hook up with the contingent in the Washington/Baltimore/Northern VA area to share his enthusiasm.
What's next for me? I still have the 78 and for the time being I am going to be without a GTS. My plan is to sell the 78 too but, I will only sell to a collector who will NOT drive the car but perserve as the piece of Porsche history that it is. For right now, I need a break. I will again someday have another but it will be one I can drive and not worry quite so much about it when I have it out. It will probably have more miles (the blue GTS had just 12k miles) but it will most definitely be a 5-speed.
Enjoy the pics:

Its simply waiting there for its reincarnation.
Some of us only see 928s as a platform for improvement instead of a static display of history. Too each thier own. But there is no reason to be sad. Many good times were had.

It may find its way back together with its original parts. Technically, it was from you to TX to IL, then to CA and up to H in WA.

Like most here, I have seen many clean 928s but this car is absolutely the cleanest I have ever seen. The word "concours" or "consourse for those not in the know" gets thrown around by lots of sellers who actually have little knowledge of what a truly concours clean car is let alone what it takes to get one concours clean. It isn't a one month process! My GTS had won many PCA judged concours and many peoples choice awards, it is as Roger will verify, a very striking car to see in person.
Thanks Keith! I plan to keep up the registry for the foreseeable future and I will still be here. I am however way behind in doing updates and plan to dedicate some time over the next couple months to get caught up.

I read this with mixed feelings.... I have seen Chuck's GTS and know how strikingly beautiful and perfect it is. Will the next owner take such good care of it? I'm not convinced anybody will. But it's a good home for sure!
As to the car underneath - that doesn't look like a regular Vanquish. Is that the one with the rare Zagato body?
