Post Blaupunkt Amplifier Question

My Shark's current stereo set up has a Pioneer Supertuner/CD with the 4 ch Blaupunkt removed (by previous owner). What is the power output of the original Blaupunkt amplifier? Can it receive direct input from the Supertuner's speaker outputs?, or does it require a low level preamp output to drive it. OR, are there any aftermarket amps that fit in the original area under the passenger side hatch release. Thanks.

Don -
THat 18 year old Blau amp only had about 6 watts/chan...HARDLY keeping up with even the cheapest of head units available today...leave it out...put in a newer hi-power head unit...or hide a power amp somewhere else!

What are the dimensions for the original amp, or more to the point how much room under the cover is available. I'd check but alas my cars are a couple of thousand miles out of reach.

Not sure if the original amp is the same size as the BQA80 in my S4, but it is 7" x 4 1/4" x 1 5/8". The mounting holes are 7 7/8 " apart. I used the BQA80 in a bridged mode to drive a small spare tire subwoofer at 80 watts for a while, but 80 watts wasn't really enough power for the sub so I removed it. I haven't found any other amp that can be mounted under the cover. So far the best hidden location I've found for an amp is under the passenger seat, and it does restrict how low the seat can go.

Blaupunkt makes a class D power amp small enough to fit in the rear glove box (if you have one)

The "Consumer Alert" on their (Blaupunkt) web site is interesting. If you don't buy it from an Authorized Internet Dealer or other Authorized Dealer as listed on their site= NO WARRANTY!

Thanks for the input. I'd really like to find an amp to fit in the original location, but I don't think anyone makes one physically small enough. More efficient Polk speakers going in this afternoon.
