Hi there Jimbo! I got a bad case of the Badtrans virus in December just before going on holiday, so I didn't post for a while.

Anyway, I'm glad to be back here and looking forward to 2002. Hope all's well with you and all the other board members.

Thumbs up

Pierre,
I, personally, thought you had either slit your wrist, took up a serious drinking habit or worse hooked up with a wild woman.
Of course, on the off chance that you are made of sternner stuff. Have you figured out what to do about the tranny? Assuming you can get the parts why don't you offer the gear surgeon a trade ... something in the paint department, maybe? Have you checked with other 928 clubs closer to S.A.?
I saw a parts location/salvage yard in Norway
, and I believe jpittman on the rennlist is located in Riyadh...just a short jaunt to the other end of the continent ...and the some. But, Christ, if you can save enough on the purchase of the whole trans. shipping starts looking reasonable. If you stick with this racing program try to contact Mark Anderson at 928 International for advice on breakage/avoidance of same, and a suggested spare parts dream list.
Keep the faith!

Hi there John. I see you lost some stars over December. What happened? Too much chirping got you some bad votes? He-he.

I think Jim is probably the only one around with all his stars intact. *L*

Sorry I haven't signed off properly before going on holiday, but my computer was in such a mess that I just left it alone and had it fixed when I got back. As for the gearbox, I found a selection of about ten S boxes (all 5 speed) at a local breaker called Pamona Porsche. My wrench negotiated the deal. We're going to pick one out next week for $300. There are no guarantees, but we can exchange it if we're not happy.

I've given up finding a 5 speed GT or GTS box for now. (the Rand's now at close to R14 to the Dollar) In the meantime I've gutted the interior exept for the dash, roof lining and rear 1/4 panels, installed 4 point harnesses and so on. (Local Porsche Challege rules sez the dash must stay.) When the Bully goes in for the gearbox, the aircon is also coming out and I plan to put the Bully on the corner weight scales afterwards to see what he weighs then. I figure a diet is probably the most cost effective way of going faster...

The body I haven't touched yet and the crank is still stock, so I won't be ready for this season's racing. I'll probably do a few time trials and take this year to sort the Bully out properly before I go for real racing. Besides, my biking buddies have talked me into a team for another season's racing in Supermono's, so I geuss that's what I'll be concentrating on this season.

As long as I race, I'm happy.
