Default The best deal in town

On this fine peice of workmanship. A lot of effort went into the maintenance of this 928. The mileage is a little high, but otherwise in excellent condish!!! $1.00 or best offer.

Mine didn't even look that good when I first got it. It's a shame that people let that happen to such nice cars.

It's kind of funny that they had the nerve to post this

"You are bidding on a early production 1978 Porsche 928. This is a great car for a collector, it's # 57 in production. The first owner worked at the factory in Stuttgart. The Porsche is in good condition. The previous owner of 16 years replaced a lot of parts, which the current owner has receipts for. The left front fender has a crack, this should be easily repaired. Please view photos. With a little bit of care this car will definitely turn heads."

I am no 928 restoration expert, but I would think that it would take at least $15,000.00 to restore this car. Maybe I am wrong, but I don't think I would have the time or the money to get this back in a condition that would "Turn Heads".

Just out of curiosity, how much did you have to put into your car to restore it?

Besides, it's a complete surprise to me that they had the 5.0L 32V version of the engine ready this early...

Cheers,
Erling

I stopped adding up the bills long ago in order to keep my sanity but I'm sure I could have bought one in really nice condition for what I put into mine. On the other hand, I've had mine for 6 years now and reading this board for those 6 years, my car seems to only need maintenance items while others have more issues. Then again, I had a lot fixed all at once when I first got it. It also depends on how far you want to go with the restoration. I went for a driveable car. At some point I'll paint it but the exterior cleaned up fairly well but the paint is probably a "6". My interior went from a "1" to an "8". New carpet but good condition used seats, dash, pod all without cracks but normal wear. But it runs really well and to me that was most important. Depending if you can do some of the work yourself, I'd say $15,000 would get that car into fairly good condition. But it was a headache. If I were to do it over, I'd buy one with good records in good condition.

That car was posted on EBay a few weeks back in the parts car section. I thought the seller and I had a deal to buy the front end of it. He stopped emailing me eventually.

Not only owned by a Porsche factory worker, but the second owner was also a pro baseball player. Barry Bawnds? Mark MackGweir? (ala John Voight's K-car convertible on Seinfeld)

I think I will rip my speakers off of my old boom box and glue them to my doors just like he did. I'll bet they will sound amazing too!!!
