Discount tire used to have a program which showed your ride (even the true color) and the wheels you selected.

Edited Comment: Couldn't find the virtual image program but I did find 18 different wheels that fit my shark.

Hey Drew,

Thanks for the Site, I never thought about looking for these guys. I did find the interactive thing and its what I was looking for but it doesn't have 928's, but I can use the 968 to get an idea. I like the Chrome Plated Voxx they have.

Thanks Again,

Dave

No problem, There are many more wheels to choose from than what the Interactive app. shows. Do a search from the drop down menus and you'll be impressed. I know I was - Voxx has a set that are silver/ray plated - Awesome combo and if you have a black shark - man would that look Swweeeettt!.

Hey Drew,

I had found the drop down menu's and that's where I found those Chrome Voxx Scorze's. So, I looked up Tires, added it all up and the Set would be Kumho 712's in 245/40 and 265/35 mounted on 8x18 and 9x18 with a total of $2058 without tax, but including Mounting and Lifetime Balancing. So then I called a local Discount Tire and checked the availabilty and they will be here Friday.....the sweet part is the price ended up at $1500 flat including Tax,Mounting and Lifetime Balance......

So, A Hugh Thanks for the link !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and unfortuantely my car is Metormettilic Blue not Black, but I think they will still look good.

Thanks Drew, Nah, I think he screwed up on the price of the wheel and only put in the Fronts, the wheels are almost $1500 by themselves.

Well, now its back to deciding between the 18" Moda's or 17" Riva's at 928specialist. I was leaning toward the Rivas because I like the looks and I think I would be happier with the 17's in the long run.

Just to add my 2 cents, I got the 17" Rivas and I couldn't be happier with them. They look as good on the S models as they do on the S4s. As to the issue of weight. They weigh the same as most of the factory Porsche 18" alloys 26lbs. So if you are considering going 18" you will have that much weight on each corner anyway. I personally didn't notice much in terms of HP loss, but it depends on how you drive the car. I have a lighter set of 16" wheels I am saving for track use if I ever go that route.

Anyway, here is a link to a pic of them on my car. They would be in my avitar if my webserver were alive, but it died this week. http://photos.groups.yahoo.com/group/gloc/vwp?.dir=/Quaz%27s+928&.src=gr&.dnm=New+Wheels+3.jpg

Good Luck

Quaz,

Thanks for the personal experience on the Riva's, I do love the way they look on Tony's S4 and would like to see them on yours since we have the same year car. But, when I click on your link it just brings me to the Yahoo login page.

Thanks again,

Dave,

Click on my profile and go to my P-Car page. There you will find the same pics. Let me know if you still can't find them and I can email you some pics of it.

Got'em and your right they do look good. Your car by the way looks very nice as well.
One last question did you go with the 255's or 265's and did you have to remove the spacer's in the back?

Thanks,

OK, now I'm confused. Weight issue aside, if the rolling circumference of the wheel is unchanged, why is there a perceived change in performance due to this?

If the new wheels resulted in a change in overall tire diameter, then your speedometer should be affected as well, right?

I find it hard to belive that going to larger wheels/tires that maintain the same rolling diameter resulted in a noticeable decrease in performance.

Dave,

Thanks for the compliment. I went with 255s on the rear and I had to remove the spacers. You will also have to either cut the studs or get shorter studs for the rear. If you are comfortable with a grinder that is the easy way to go.

Randy,

The question of wheel weight is often overlooked and misunderstood. Think of it this way, the engine has to turn a fly wheel, torque tube, transmission, drive shafts, brake rotors and wheels/tires. That is all weight the engine has to overcome before it can result in any forward motion (ignoring the weight of the car itself). So the heavier your wheels and tires are the more rotational mass the engine has to spin. The stock forged wheels weigh about 19 lbs each. Most of the factory cast 16 and 17" wheels weigh about 21-24lbs. The factory 18" wheels weigh about 26-29lbs each. So even if the overall diameter of the wheel stays the same, if the weight of the wheel increases the engine will have to work harder to turn it. It is the price you pay for style. Now you can get some forged 17 and 18 inch wheels that weigh about 19 lbs, but they are much more expensive (like 2 to 3 fold more). Hope that helped.

Hey Randy,

Sorry, I personally don't have any idea of how the size would affect the performance, other than ride quality. You would seem to be correct though as far as if its the same diameter then there shouldn't be any difference, unless Tony was refering to the width.
