French seams or black piping??
I am getting a new interior from Paul and I need to make a decision. I am going with the Porsche Cork color with black thread accent on the steering wheel, shifter, e-brake cover ect. My difficulty is in deciding whether to stay with the traditional piping in black or modernize with the french seams using the contrasting black thread.
I don't know how to set up a poll so just give me your insight. I am leaning toward the piping in black because I saw it on a car for sale here a while back and thought it was stunning.
Also, to sport seat or not? I know they are harder to get into and the wear on the bolster is more, they are also real snug once in but they seem to be a very desirable option.
All input is appreciated.

Sport Seats are the only way to go, my 81 has them.
As for piping or french seams....I'm on the fence myself.

French seams add a very modern look. And as I'm sure you've figured out by now, you can get them with contrasting stitching.
If you're a fan of piping you're probably still hanging on to your Members Only jacket.

OUCH!!!! I am just more of a traditionalist. Would it scare you to know that I am planning on keeping the cassette partitions in the center console?

LOL what's wrong with members only jackets? J/K
This is a tough one, both look very nice and it really depends on what you want. If trying to restore to original like new then it's a no brainer. French seams are beautiful and modern and will update the look of the interior. If you prefer to keep things looking stock (like stereo etc.) go with the piping.

I'll try to shoot a pic of mine, which are similar to Cashmere sport with black pipiing. I really like the contrast.
I'm 5'11" and around 175/180 lbs. I really like the sport seats and don't find them tight. If you're a bigger guy, Paul might be able to either angle the bolsters out a bit wider, or position them a little further outboard on the seat frame, or both.
If I were having Paul do my seats, I'd also have the Porsche crest etched into the headrest.

All the new Mercedes have the French seams nowadays. If you do this on your 928, you should consider these two issues:
- it's not factory original styke
- you'll do both front and back seats to make it look right
- if the "fashion" changes again in five years, you have neither original nor desirable. That's OK, as long as you like it and keep the car, but could affect resale value. Not sure that's a concern in your case.
