Made my own 928 calendar... It's sweet! (pics)
There's a recent thread about the shrine... and about using other people's images for profit - without permission. It kind of pissed me off, but I also understand that if you post a picture on the net without a copyright or watermark... well it's like leaving a $20 bill in your mail box and not expecting the mail man to take it. Anyway, I was a bit pissed that she didn't even ask... I probably would have said go for it.
So... I recently put together a 928 calendar. My original intention was to sell this to the 928 community to raise a little money for our "Sharks in Hell III" event in August. I had contacted many people or planned to contact them to use their photo for this project. If they had said no, I had several backup images.
But then the WOR calendar came up and I frankly didn't feel good competing for charity dollars. Their cause is a much more noble one than mine.
As a result, I have abandoned my project, but wanted to share with you a very cool project that you can put together for yourself for very little money.
Costco allows its members to upload photos for prints, posters, and... calendars. I'm sure there are other sites out there too, but costco seems to do well by me. Just make sure you choose the large format when you upload your photos.
I chose to go for the large format calendar which is 11.5" x 14" closed, and 14" x 23" open on gloss paper. You can also add photos on important dates like Shark in the Mountains and Sharks in Hell.
Anyway... this is what I ended up with. Me likey! The best part was the price. It's about $24 with shipping to you house. You never have to leave your comfy chair!
So just to be clear... what you see below was my pototype. If you see your photo here and I have not contacted you about using it... I had every intention of doing so, but I have abandoned my project and this will be used for my personal use only... Sorry if I stepped on your toes. Let me know and I'll buy you a beer.
