If the PPI checks out, good price. Otherwise - yes, it will be a $17k 928. I paid $13,500 for mine in 2003, and have put nearly $6000 into it somehow.

At this point, I wouldn't sell my '87 with 110k on it for less... of course, I've redone everything already. I've got no dings and a decent (9?) interior. Some cracks on the pod.

Koni/Hypercoils
928 Motorsports sways/links
RMB
Short Shifter
Autothority chips
Devek Al undertray
17" turbo twist copies
Rear Air
12x driver, 8x passenger seats, heated
Recent t-belt job (like 2k miles ago)

Besides, what the heck could I replace it with for less than $20k, anyway??? Another 928 that needs $6k of work?

And how do I post pics of it here so you can properly drool/cheer me on?
The nice, but also confusing aspect, of these cars, is that finding two cars with the exact same options, colour etc. is pretty much impossible, especially once you eliminate the auto gearbox. Whatever car you end up buying, there will always be options you could have found in a different car, but at the cost of something in the one you have. The condition as a result of age/mileage just compounds this issue.

I guess what I'm trying to say is.. don't hold out for the exact combination of options and condition you desire - its about compromise, and unless you were buying a brand-new one and specifying the factory build, you'll have to compromise somewhere

Just be happy for the person you meet whose car has a few things you look at and think "wow, that'd be nice to have in my car", and remember they probably have the same reaction to aspects of yours.

If I could only find a '95 GTS with factory wood, sports seats, manual gearbox, green paint, linen seats/carpet and black leather console/dash/pod for sale in this country (snowballs chance in hell)... But at least for now I get to sit back and enjoy the experience and noise when I push my right foot to the floor and hit 6500 rpm

If you're not too worried about it being a lemon, then you're obviously not over-extending yourself to buy the car.. so if it costs you a bit more than parts/labour/maintenance over the course of ownership, is it a disaster?

The only caveat is that you should get a PPI before buying - a $14k car thats in bad enough shape under the hood could cost $14k+ to get "right".

Great color combo and appears to be in good shape too. Check for records and have a PPI done, if all confirms it's a keeper.

Looks like either Cassirot, or maybe Nougat Brown (hard to know as red hues photograph unreliably).

Here's a great colour reference

Well yeah I keep switching it. The current one is the rear end view of my 89 S4 showing my custom "**** CDT" plate... Which I love dearly.

Hey, on the subject of 87's, here's one in Williamsburg VA for comparison. I don't know anything about it, but it sure looks appealing. Granted, auto as opposed to manual trans.
