Wow, you've gotten 26 mpg in an '82 5spd?
In the 14 years I've had my '82 5spd, the BEST I've ever seen was 20.46 mpg and that was on the downhill leg from Tahoe on a return trip from Colorado. Most of that (all highway) trip was in the 18 -19 mpg range.
Short trips around town & 11 - 13 mpg is more the norm. I don't think I've ever gotten down to 10 mpg, but I usually don't check 'cause I don't want to know.

Dang, girl...$3.33 a gallon for regular. That's painful. We always put super in our Euros, which around here is currently $3.20-$3.30. Still costs a wad to fill up. Can't tell you about mpg though. I don't keep track of that stuff religiously. Generally, each of our cars gets about $20-25 a week (when they are both on the road). I think we each usually get about 100 miles out of our 7'ish gallons per car, so whatever that works out to. 13-14 mpg? We don't commute in our cars, nor do we ever have far to go. It's generally a mix of highway and local miles every week.

I do think hubby's supercharged car does better than my 5 speed, generally speaking. But I'm sure that's because I flog the crap out of mine, and it's not as mechanically sound as his is (i.e., all my fuel and air components are not 100%, and I need head gaskets too, so I probably burn more just on that reason alone).

Don’t ask me why I track my spending on this car; if my wife found this file I’d be disemboweled. According to my spreadsheet I recorded 382 miles and 14.8 gallons of gas equaling 25.8 mpg. Now I started looking over the past year (length of ownership) and something is wrong with that number as the only other number that comes close is 22mpg. Now my gauge does not go all the way to full so I rely on the pump to stop at full. The problem in my calculation probably lies in the auto shut off at the pump. Certainly couldn’t be a mathematical error or odometer error!

That's exactly half of 666..... Number of the Beast

"Woe to you, Oh Earth and Sea, for the Devil sends the
beast with wrath, because he knows the time is short...
Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the
beast for it is a human number, its number is Six hundred and
sixty six."

I get 11 litres / 100km on the highway. 120 - 160km / hour. 2 litres better than my '97 F150.
