It should be mentioned in the tech stuff that I used here http://www.928intl.com/repair/intake1b.pdf great info there, but needs this added to it for people like me who didn't pay attention.

Roger, go to nearest Home Depot, clear these from shelves and send them all in here please. I might need to order some other stuff from you soon also.

Mike had already given me a "heads up" on these and the local Home Depot area "Big Boss Man" 8>) is a local 928 owner and Rennlister, mentioning no names.
I will pick up as many as I can later today or tomorrow.

Just confirming, Roger....these rubber bonded washers worked great. I included one in the return items sent last week. They fit perfectly on the shoulder bolts that hold down the valve covers. They are described by Home Depot as "3/8 inch sealing washer, pt 30699892785". They are made by Crown bolt Inc, Cerritos, Ca 90703.
Even though they are available from Home Depot, I would suggest stocking some, as I bought all that 2 Home Depot stores stocked, so as to make up a total of 22.

Ok, I think I'm all done until I can get my injectors back.

Being the dumbass that I can be, I reyanked that water cover bolt to reinstall the fuel dampener at the drivers side rear and, yup, you guessed it.......dropped the damn thing. So I've got the intake in position, not bolted down and I'm up on top of it looking for the bolt. Find the bolt, grab the handy magnet, touch it and bam, the bolt is lost again. Spent 45 minutes looking for that damn bolt as I see water pooling around the, now open, intake.

After realizing that the bolt has gone where most socks go in the wash, I go looking for a replacement. Now I have various lengths of 8.8 bolts, but all are too long. Finally I grab the box that all of the spare parts came in on the '90 and I see an allen headed bolt of the correct length. Thank you Scott (guy I got the '90 from) for putting that in there, it saved me.

One thing to add to the tech page. That long, U shaped at the end hose, is a pain in the *** to get in to position as you reinstall the intake. When you get that hose in place, chances are you will knock off the shorter, passenger side vent hose. Then the fun begins.

Thanks for the info and advice guys, I'll chime back in on this thread when the injectors come back.

one word of advice make sure that you can account for every bolt when your doig intake work, this is not good time to be loosing hardware, how many times have we heard the story of i dropped a small nut or washer and never found it only to find it lodged into the inside of the head or top of the piston

Sage advice.

I'm glad all of my holes were plugged up enough that a bolt couldn't go in there.

Roger, I just tried to buy these at Home Depot (over the phone, no local store) and they were clueless and so I called Crown Bolt and talked to Diane. She said she'd sell them in boxes of 100 for about $11.00/box plus $9.50 for drop shipping. I had to contact a Home Depot and buy them through their store, so I got 200, since the shipping was the same. Total was about $33.00 including drop shipping to my home and sales tax. That should last me for a couple of weeks.

Just though you'd like to know that you could get a better deal and partially avoid the @#@#!$@@ at Home Depot.

And.... on another note, any further info on the seats?

Rod

Umm... so if I add that tip to the procedure you'll miss it anyway? Now that's gonna motivate me.

I've been considering a third revision in light of all the shorted injector etc. threads recently.

Naa, just because I'd miss it doesn't mean the smart people will.

Keep up the great work, that was real easy to read and follow, thanks for the time you put in to it.

When I wrote the first revision of that ... oh... about 8 years ago, issues like fried injector harnesses just weren't issues. It's time to update it to include all the WYIT items that are the result of 10 years of driving. I'll start a thread (later) to gather folks' wish lists.
