Default Brake upgrade

I'm gathering parts for the big brake upgrade. I have 2 sets of used calipers and need some parts for them, spring plates, dampers, stuff like that. Anyone know where can I get these bits? Brembo doesn't sell them.

Also, anyone making caliper adapters (other than the big 3)? I have a drawing, anyone want to make some?

Thanks,

Bill

Although simple in design, the adapter brackets are highly stressed in that environment. Yeah, I know they're a bit pricey for what they are, but how much will it cost to get someone to run off one set? And will that set work properly? If throwing out an open solicitation for someone to make a set, I doubt you'll save much money.

If by spring plate you mean the spring that holds the pads in the caliper, that is listed on PET as:
928 351 950 01
I just called the dealer and the part is available through them.

You can get the dampers from the big 3.

928 Specialists seems to have the best selection of stuff on their website that you'll need to do the upgrade.

To install S4 brakes on my 79, my machinist modified the spindle to hold the caliper - no adapters.

So there is that option or buy a set of S4 spindles.

How the hell did he modify the spindle to go from an axial bolting pattern to a Radial one?

I'd be curious to know that as well.

Here are two of his other projects:

He also rebuilt a set of S4 calipers to hold a 6-piston Alcon (sp?) caliper. I don't have any pics of that setup. In fact, I don't have any pics of mine since I've never removed the caliper.

Oh, well if it was Todd, then....

But in your alcon statement you mean "S4 spindles"

Jim Page (former owner of my 79 and all around 928 guru) is the former owner of my 79. So a lot of the mods on this car were the result of those two. They went to highschool together. I should build a web page with all of their projects on it. Big block olds in a VW beetle.....just to name one. Jim still has the car.

Doh! PET! Yeah, I see what I need there - repair kit - 928 351 959 00 & 01 - that will do the front.

Can you supply more details? Maybe even pics?

Thanks,
