What diagnostic let the mechanic lead to a faulty harness? Do they work on 928s or even Porsches? If not, you will be better towing the car now than later, after the bill is $3-5k plus and the car still not running. Make some friends on rennlist, follow people's advise and use the search button, did I mention the search button? You really need to know how to work on these cars if you want to afford them. It gets really expense really fast when you start replacing parts that are not broken. Mine 928s has never been to a mechanic and I intend to keep it this way!!!

The crank sensor itself is in the bell housing just behund the engine. The connector is directly under the MAF. You'll recognize the wire and connector because it snakes up from the bell housing. I'll bet the connector is fried. The ECU will shut off the injectors if there's no signal from the crank sensor.

He was getting a spark that indicates the CPS is working. HOWEVER.............
Given the condition of the rear knock sensor connector it stands to reason that all of the parts that i listed in an earlier post still need to be replaced, or atleast inspected to verify their condition. That being said if any of the other sensor connectors are in the condition of the one posted then they all should be replaced.
And yes you need to have the car at a shop that has a specialty in 928s, otherwise you will be trying to shoot fish in a barrel with a rubber BB gun, it wont be good

update on car
after reading a few things on the post you all have made I called the mechanic again and asked him to check the crank shaft sensor. He said the crank shaft sensor and the cam sensors are good and the problem is in the wiring harness for the fuel injectors. So I ordered a used harness for $400+ shipping from 928intl. Hopefully the mechanic can fix it after I give him that. He said he owned a few 928s and he advertises he works on Porsche and other European cars. He also said some part of the plastic melted on the wire harness it had trouble conducting electricity.
