Question Tachometer glitch!

Here's an odd one!

Every time I turn on my high beams, my tachometer goes dead. I have done lots of work on the car lately, and have had odd problems befor all the work. The work I did was a new green wire, rebuild alternator, instrument pod removal (!!), and some minor center consol stuff. Everything went quite well, but could I have crossed a wire some where or something??

Not yet. I actually have a plan for that though. I want to get some high tempature paint and stencil the Porsche logo on it befor I put it in. I dont know if it will work or not. I'll try it on a piece of scrap first.

I suspect its a connection issue in the pod - probably just connector cleaning/seating. Remember there is a high beam indicator/warning on the dash... does this work? I suspect when it comes on it causes a disturbance (ground connection) for the tachometer...

Did you replace any warning bulbs??

Thanks for the reply. That's a very interesting thought. Yes the warning light works. No, i did not change any bulb's, as they all seemd to be working. I will look into that, thanks.
