Default Anyone use an antenna like this? (Rooftop AM-FM-XM)

Just had my windshield replaced and need a new antenna since the replacement was "wire-less". Has anyone tried this antenna or anything like it? Would definitely appreciate feedback if so.

I have one of the earlier models without the satellite radio capability. In my opinion, it is probably marginal. A bit poorer than the long stalk roof mount on '89+ cars, and not nearly as good as the windshield mount of the '87-'88's.

I don't know if most people know this but the XM and Serious antennas are interchangable. They both work and fit either system.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll probably try this, and right now just for AM-FM use. The XM is just for "future options" sort of a WYAIT kind of thing.

I have been looking for one of these shark fins with satellite capabilities. Thanks for the heads up

It's on the list... Seriously, looks like a January project. I'll post the results. Meanwhile, if anyone else has tried something like this would like to hear about it.

I bought one a few weeks ago, and it is at the paint shop right now. Once it has been painted, I'll have it installed locally. I'll make followup posts once I've had an opportunity to try it out I currently have XM

Nice - exactly what i've been looking for instead of replacing my inop roof-top antenna.

Is this AM/FM/sat, or just AM/FM, Rick? The site doesn't specify.

Great solution! I want to replace my pitted windshield, however the built-in antenna version is extremley expensive and difficult to obtain.
What is the reception quality with ' hidden-tt-antennna, only interested in AM/FM ?

That hidden antenna might be exactly what I need also. I would be curious to know if all the metal under the dash would create interference.
One could fit it under the headliner, but again the metal roof might cause a problem.

As for the fin, I wonder if the stock BMW unit performs any better.

Anyone have experience with the hidden type shown by Rixter?

Does it have an internal amplifier that hooks up to the head unit's power antenna output like the OEM antennas do?

Anyone?

we just installed one of these in a customers 911, mounted in the cowl area behind the blower, COMPLETELY STEALTH.. am/fm reception was great, I was pleasantly surprised and intend to put one in the 88 when I swap the windshield, the connector is a standard jack like any external antenna
if you have any questions call Scott Vedder at Skeeters Hot Rods, 386-212-1611
these are very popular in the hot rod industry to keep clean lines
