I would just use the stock plug that Porsche specified, and plain old copper is fine with me.
Platinum last longer, but will cost you a little more. For something like spark plugs which are pretty cheap to begin with, I'll change them out every 30K miles on the dime.....expendable part.
I just don't want to leave something like that in a car for 50, 80, 100K miles.....so I don't care for platinum. I don't think platinum offer anything other then longer life, and in my opinion most of the other 2 prong, 4 prong, etc. type plugs are not worth the money either....just selling gimmicks.

Richard,
You can search and pull up allot of info on this subject. I actually learned a ton of information on the subject from a web site that was mentioned on one of the threads. It goes into the length of the plug the burn temp and the draw on the system.
I had quad tip platinum in my car and when I replaced them I used the twin platinum tip. My car still runs like a bat out of Hell.
Try and find the site and check it out, great information.

My wrench advised AGAINST the 4 prong plugs!
He showed me one where the one of the prongs burned off and pieces fell into the cylinder and scored the walls!

I don't know if there are different "grades" of Bosch parts such as caps and rotors, but they should all be the same. Haven't really found anybody that sells them for less then the big three that would make me want to not give them my support.

Big 3 for the cap and rotor at least.
I use the platinums without any complaints, i have noticed very slight increase in fuel efficiency since the switch though I doubt it is significant enough to justify additional cost.

You sure about your owner's mannual?
For a US S 83, my owners mannual calls for a WR 8 DS. Thats a silver, not copper, plug.
When I bought the car, it had Bosch 4+ in it. I changed out to a platinum plug, as I was haveing igntion problems, and I didn't know when, or what, the plugs were. The car ran exactly the same. The platiums were fairly cheap, much more so that the 4+, and easyer to get than the silver, so thats why I bought them.
I don't think it much matters what type of plug you use, untill you get into highly specalized applications. The important part is changeing them out when needed, and useing the right heat range.
Anyways, check your mannual, it might be diffrent from mine.

Viribusunit , Mitch, Thanks checked my manual again and you are right it calls for WR8DS not C guess I was looking in the lists from 928 Int and 928 Spec and only saw the WR8DC listed for 80 to 84. Ended up with the Platinum as the were only $2.19 at checker auto. They had no clue to the silver or even copper one's . Said they could order in the copper at $2.00 each.
After changing plugs found some cracked wires ( Looks like age ) Guess I get to buy new wires also, Any suggestions to good wires. I don't think I need Nogoly's unless tyhe are that much better. Any suggestions ?
Thanks

Richard,
Not to cut out the big 3, however you might want to check with your local Napa dealer. I found that they have about the same price. When you add the shipping and handling, Napa might be cheaper.
I know this may break even but for me it is better to go local then to have the delivery truck stop at the house. My 100lb German Shepard really hates those trucks and jumps on the front door until they leave. They normally don't make it to the door before the toss it onto the porch and run away.
