Default padle shift 928

Has anyone else watched Horepower TV on Spike today? At the end they showed a universal padle shift kit but I didn't catch the manufacturer. Looks like it could be fitted to an auto 928.

Tired to look at the show's website for soem more direct info on this but its down.

If it's the one I'm thinking of, it only works with later, electronic, servo controlled transmissions. It won't work with any 928.

There may be a system that works with the cable, using a linear motor, but shifts won't be as immediate as the servo type, as the trans will decide, hydraulically, if it feels like shifting when you request a gear change.

IMO, it's a LOT easier to bang shift an auto, paddle or not. And they can take it too.

I agree 100%.

I got a chance to drive a DB9 with tip (or whatever version A/M uses). You could physically slide the shifter over to a +/- gate and tap it forward and back to shift, or you could use the shifter buttons on the wheel.

I've always dreamed of having shifter buttons on the wheel of my S4 A/T, or F1 triggers behind it, but after driving a car with them, I'll stick with the A/T stick.

I found the buttons awkward to use, and not very intuitive. After the drive the owner of the car said that he didn't use the shifter buttons much either and opts for the stick. It was much different experience then what I expected, I really thought it would be the ultimate. I'll take a pass on it.

I'm curious if anyone had the same experience with the shifter buttons/triggers.

Those you that like the idea but haven't driven a button / trigger shift car, I'd take one for a test drive before investing in the mod. I think the results may suprise you.

I've heard this said before. Would you please explain the technique? Thanks in advance.

I have the auto and do the bump shifting as a way of life. We also have a Chrysler 300 (yes it has a Hemi) and it has the option to shift the 5 speed auto manually. If the paddles were avaible I would still bump my auto.

They're trying to compensate for something... They might as well just go buy Vettes.

Resurrecting this old Auto Paddle Shifter thread.

I agree w/ the other posts here, paddle shifter would be great on a 928 Auto, I really like my Mini Cooper S (turbo) which has that option.

Now whats the latest Tech for converting older "Non-Electronic" external lever controlled Autos like ours?

I've been searching for some options out there and there seams to be some for Turbo 400 Tran's and others similar like ours. I've see posted where w/o the "boden" cable connected ours will shift like a sequential.

Thanks!

Dave

OK Tony but I did not see one listed for a non-electronic Trans on that site, we need one for an external lever operated Trans.
