Default Largest E85 station in SoCal (or only) near me Go E85?

http://www.rtc4afv.com/

This is a great thing. Its in the center of San Diego, and not that far from me. I already have the car plumbed for -10, and the injectors are 76lb, and the EFI will be fully tunable - so I was thinking I could run the car on E85! Its nearly 105 octane, and that would basically allow me to not have to add the methanol/water injection.

With this stuff, and my coated stock pistons and cometic gasket, I should be able to run a solid 1 bar of air (may need to upgrade the V-1).

I knew my fuel system upgrades would come in handy!

Question: Do I need a special fuel pump and different injector seals? Anything else for the higher alchy content?

Stoich for E85 is about 9.7:1 (9.0078 for E100)

Well, I have bought 750cc high impedance injectors, my ful rails are about a -12 inside, all plumbing is -10. That should be enough right?

Remember Erik - the alternative is methanol/water injection and running the crap CA 91 (barely 91 by most tests) fuel.

Brendan-
Weren't you going to use Megasquirt for your ECU? From what I have read, you can plumb in a GM E85 sensor to have the MS switch between the two fuels... Perhaps this is already what you are thinking?

I think it's a great idea, just posting the stoich figure as an FYI.

With an innovate wideband set to Lambda, you can easily monitor this.

Switching between the two makes me nervous, if you have half / half, leaves you with a strange air / fuel. Not to mention the optimum timing for each fuel is different.....I think.

Using a lambda based wideband setup makes keeping the air / fuel happy much easier.

This very long thread has a great discussion. Along the way it is mentioned that torque continues to rise into the E85's rich of stoich zone, past 7:1! highest torque can be at 6.9!

Don't forget that E85 LOVES boost...& lots of it......since detonation is nearly impossible......

Hope you have a fuel pump that can handle it....since its about a 1/3 more gas.......& don't forget the 1/3 less mileage too....so a 20mpg highway becomes 14 at best on E85!! But 105 octane is nice!

The boost is why I was thinking of this, as well as my very large overhead fuel system I had planned. Though the bosch 044 pump may not even be up to the task now.

Just went down to the station. Took about 7 minutes from my house. Very nice. I put half a tank in the S2000 for the hell of it. I think it has like a 11.7 compression ratio, so it won't hurt power I am sure.

Regular system, but the E85 is 2.60 a gallon instead of 3.30 for the crap 91 octane. Thats a savings even though the gas mileage will be lower.

Aluminum lines are some of my under-car lines, so maybe I should pickle them or have them anodized? And the fuel rails are bare aluminum as well. Maybe JetHot is impervious to alcohol. I guess I need to do more research.
