Bill, I see you have an SC on your car already, I'd love to see it. Let me know if you're going for a ride on a Saturday morning sometime, maybe we could meet up and tell each other how great our cars are : )

If DR gets CARB certification, which I find very hard to believe, he will have at least one other customer in this area

A have a feeling if DR could get Carb Certs for California, his list would grow exponentially.

Thanks Charley. I think they're called "sport techno". I'm not sure if they're replicas of a "real" wheel or not, but I liked them and thought they'd go well with the 928. They're 18" wheels and I've got 235's in the front and 285's in the back. Not sure about the offset, sorry. (technically challenged in a brutal way)

Gary:

My SC is currently on the garage floor. I took it off in order to pass the smog test and haven't put it back on. I was accumulating parts to do an intercooler and got very busy with other projects. I should get it back on in November with the intercooler and a 7 PSI pulley. You can see the effects of it in its earlier configration in the videos in my signature.

We do have Saturday rides. Visit the Norcal928.org site. Send me your email and I'll add you to the list. Next weekend some of us will be down in Anaheim for Sharkoberfest 2007. The following Saturday (27th) a group of us are going to Laguna Seca to watch the races in which six 928s are entered.

Well at least you're not challenged for humility and a sense of humor. You'll fit in just fine. Be sure to register with Bill's Norcal site. Look forward to meeting you.

Nice looking 928...black-tan was the color scheme I originally wanted....I like the wheels too

http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermk...rmktdevice.php

List of certified supercharger kits from CARB....there is a TON on there....some seem like smaller businesses...

Here is the form

http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermkt/forms/formc.pdf

It doesn't say anything about cost.....just that it has to be tested by an "independant laboratory?" whatever that means??? Maybe its not that pricey afterall....it just takes forever & is a bunch of red tape?

DR I'll volunteer my 928 for testing....for the small testing fee of a polished twinscrew!!

Heres a lab

It just happens to be right around the corner from 928intl..... :>)

Jeez, Brian. First you scold DR for getting our hopes up and then you do the same thing.
Considering it's a state controlled program I figure we'll have our cert. in about five years if we get started immediately.

Nice look'n car Gary. I was going to recommend Bill's Garage when I first saw this post, but
I figured I'd better let him speak for himself. Bill's one of the greatest assets we 928 owners
have here in the Bay Area. Thanks Bill.

Thanks for the comments George!

Brian, I was thinking about the list you found. DR is the manufacturer of the kit we're discussing, but in fact he is purchasing some of those key components from other manufacturers in order to assemble the kit along with the items he is having machined himself. Could it be that DR is sourcing one of the key components (remember, I'm technology challenged) from a company that sells supercharger kits for a large range of vehicles, and if so, might that company not have already got a CARB certification for CA that would act as an umbrella under which our kits would therefore be covered? Could we already be certified and not realize it, because a key component in our kit is certified?

Gary-
I probably have the most miles on DR's pre-production kit. Don't let DR kid you though, it's very much a complete kit - he's just too **** to release it until it's 110% perfect.

I love my SCer! I recently upgraded my boost to the point where I was hitting 9psi this morning on my way to work (the car LOVES the cool morning Michigan air)! It goes like stink. If you have the means, I highly recommend you pic one up. And if DR gets it CARB certified, well... it's a no brainer then.

There are quite a few people running upwards of 500 RWHP with no ill effect. These cars can definitely handle it if you tune it correctly. We now have the ability to not only tune the fuel maps, but we can also tune the ignition maps too. This allows us to make provisions for reducing knock which is the silent killer in boosted applications.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to send me a private message. I'll be happy to discuss any concerns you may have with the kit.
