Question 928 or 928S?

I received my manual for the car today and was doing some research. I was told that the car was a 1982 928S. I looked on page 85 of the owners manual and under the technical data the Engine numbers are M 28.09/10 for the 928 and M 28.11/12 for the 928S. My engine says M 28/15. I know that this is the engine that came with the car (numbers match) through a certificate of authenticity from Porsche Cars of North America, Inc. Any thoughts?

Something like this:

My 1982;
M28.09/10 Std Euro spec(ROW) manual/auto
M28.11/12 Euro S man/auto
M28.15/16 USA version man/auto
M28.17/18 Japan Man/auto

There was no S version for US in 1982 however
there was a package that offered the spoilers
and some other S upgrades.

Thumbs down

O.K. that all makes sense. I do have the front and rear S spoilers and the 16" wheels and some other optional equipment: U.S emisions, sport seats, cooling vents in front spoilers, sport shocks, alarm system, and power sunroof. How do I get a S key to activate my alarm? Thanks for the great information!

If it's gold, with gold hubcaps, and a spoiler, it is probably one of the 1982 Weissaach (sp?) editions, in which case it was the S appearance, but it is a non-S. Steve's right though, wonderful car in any case, and if it is the Weissaach edition, you've got the comfort of knowing you've got a limited edition, one of only 205 cars ever built, if that sort of thing appeals to you.

I wish it was a Weissaach edition! I loved that color. But it's not. I told myself when looking for a 928 it was going to be white or red. This one is Chiffon white. Thsnks for the responce.

Hubcaps? HUBCAPS? On a 928? I don't think "Hubcap Annie" here in Pasadena has any 928 wheels hanging on her wall.

You meant to say forged slotted flat alloys, perhaps the strongest wheels the factory ever made, didn't you?

Now, the big question is......do you have the luggage?

Yeah, that's what I meant. Alloys. Unfortunately when my dad bought the car used, he didn't get the luggage with it. Fortunately ownership records and service and history show that it is a Weisaach.
