Replaced my heater blower motor last night, thanks to the great instructions it was a very simple job. Hardest part that took the wife and 2 daughters to help with was the removal and replacement of the hood. Remember to un-plug and disconnect the wiring to the hood! Thanks to 928 Int for a good used part. No More Heater Motor squealing.

Taking the motor out is easy. I never posted it here put here is my descrption in the German forum:

I did not remove the complete hood just unbolted the passenger side hinges. One bolt holds the motor from the inside and two from the outside. I drilled a hole in the top of the blower motor housing for future oil lubrication without removal...

Go to the last picture in the German forum link above. It shows a central dimple with a screw and a home-made rubber washer. That screw is in the drilled hole. I'm going to try it.

I drilled my housing and my small squeak is gone.
You can't get to the top of the blower housing without removing more stuff than I wanted to. I therefore drilled a 1/8" hole as high on the cylinder of the housing as possible. It's plastic and I used a Dremel. I stuck a long plastic oil tube in where the pictures show the top bearing is, and injected oil. No more squeak and the blower goes slightly faster; it blew some evaporator dust in my face.

I am not following how you lubed the upper bearing. Even with the plastic shield removed, the upper bearing in my 86 blower is not accessible. It looks like it must be pressed in from the underside. Instead I turned it upside down and sprayed oil hoping it would work its way into the bearing - it did not work. This winter I plan on pulling the motor again and drilling through the metal to see if I can lube it from the top.

Yes the hole is under the small silver philips head screw. I'm not using the screw any more, I left it out. Just some elctric tape on top after lubing the upper bearing is enough. I use regular oil in a surrenge with a long PVC tube to get oil in the upper bearing. 5 minute job...

I'm thinking you just wanted to get the end of a WD-40 straw in above the blower fan, so it's high, but in through the side of the housing, right?

This morning I completely removed the blower and did not remove the hood, What I did was remove the recirculation flap and droped the blower into the passenger side compartment. Does anyone know if there is a part number for the recirculation flap gasket, mine is mostly missing
