Default Quick - Kink in lower rear arm is on which side?

There is a bend, or kink, in a lower rear arm at the back. Its supposed to be there -

Drivers or passenger side?

I think its driver, but I need some sort of verification.

Thanks!

Can someone just go out to thier garage and see if the bigger kink is on the passenger or driver's side?

Thanks!

I'd go look, but wtf year are you asking about? Don't know if I can help.

Or maybe I did do it right.

None of these pics are directly conclusive though.

Here I see a kink in the driver's side apparent:

And yes, I checked the WSMs. They say "Don't mix them up, not interchangable"

Yeah, thanks Dieter the WSM author, for your continued and unbelievable lack of specifics.

I'd be happy to look Brendan, but can you be a little more descriptive. Where exactly would I be looking? Are you talking about the trailing arm that goes from the chassis to the front of the carrier, or the Weissach "blade" that goes from the cross member to the carrier?

The latter adam. Its the blad spring steel section. The shock is not lining up like it usually does, and I am fearing that I have reversed sides of the lower arms themselves. But it could just be really angled wrong because all the lower bushings are new?

Thanks!

If I understand, you need to know which one is which? I just went throught this yesterday because I welded shock mounting ears on the lower arms and had to figure out what was top and bottom of the disassembled arms. If you lay them flat you'll notice the outter part is angled slightly relative to the 'blade' arm. Think of the arms as a shallow "V", on the car they mount like that with the outter part angling up slightly. I have pics galore if you'd like, is that what you need to know?

Thanks for responding Mike. The issue is that the two arms are different. One has a very slight bend in the flat part that lets the weisach work, and the other has a much more pronounced "kink".

From the pictures I have seen it seems like I have it right, and that it is on the driver's side that the largest kinked lower arm should go.

But the lining up of the shock on the passenger side is giving me the *******. Its almost as if the koni shock is not welded with enough "angle" on the bottom shock mount.

See here, Carl has installed his shock backwards - the angle on the shock is wrong. I have mine correct, but is still causing alignment issues with the rest of the assembly - and I am concerned that the lower arm is on the wrong side of the car.

This is not my picture - its Carl's

Here is a pic of my own lower arms so I can ask properly:

Is this kink:

On this arm, which is the lower one:

Supposed to be on the driver's side or the passenger side (usa)?

Because the passenger side looks like this (less kink):

Does this pic help? Look to the left and you'll see that angle formed that I mentioned, I haven't noticed any kinks in that flat section.

Do you have a pic from straight up from the ground, as if you were laying under the suspension?
