Hey there everybody out there.Pround new 1978 928 owner.Love this car!
Not so sure I love "downtown Porsche toronto".My car with no leaks has an oil leak.and I need new sheild wipers even though they're porsche stock and put on 5 days ago...mmmm.
Any body know of a great mechanic in the toronto canada area? Happy to pay not to be gouged.

I moved from Toronto in 2002 but here are the two shops I liked,

Refined Motor Sports
14 Ronson Dr
Etobicoke ON, M9W 1B2
Phone: 416-248-9777

Henry is the owner and the former head mechanic at Downtown fine cars.

Euromotion Specialty
160 Thirtieth St
Etobicoke, ON
416-251-4788

Paul (the son) runs the place and his father Mike oversees the mechanics. They are not the best shop but a great value and easy to work with.

Hi Bill,

I live in Cambridge but work in Brampton. Have been working on a few 928 for a while now and worked on cars (as a hobby) since I was 16. If you want, maybe I can have a quick look at your 928 and see where the oil leak is from.

Driving to Sharktoberfest from TO? Wow.

I'm originally from Sault Ste. Marie - be sure to stop by my car for a cocktail and to say hi at Sharktoberfest.

AWESOME!! You may be the leader of the central Canada contingent! There's no better intro to 928 ownership than a road trip. Good news too-- You won't need those wipers once you get here. Weather will be in the 70's, partly cloudy.

Be sure to drag your laptop along, your digital camera, and of course the cellphone and the platinum AMEX card. Post your travel progress and your target stops along the way. The Rennlist 928 group is a benevolent and social bunch. You'll likely have company available at your stops along the way, and assistance if needed as you travel. There are typically caravans/parades from major centers, so you can join up and have travel buddies along with you.

Looking forward to meeting you!

Malcolm-- You likely won't need it when you are here. History of Sharktoberfest weather has seen highest temps in the low '80's during the day. Most all (the other four...) have been mid-70's highs. Very comfortable driving weather without AC. Southern California experiences a weather phenomena called 'Santa Ana Winds'. Should be Santana but that was screwed up irreparably a long time ago. Anyway, a high-pressure zone parks north and east of us,. isolated by a trough in the jetstream for a few days. That causes warm dry winds to push down on us from the desert, with temps ranging as high as 90 that late in the season. The good news is that it's a desert wind with RH in the single digits. It's a similar heat factor to what you experience at home at less than 80f, thanks to the low humidity.

As far as needing AC to get here, it's a crapshoot for what the midwest US weather will be like. So much depends on the route you plan. Bill R, From where you are, if you have the time, you can safely stay a bit north, and come across west through Denver (meet up with Denver area travelers) and the rockies before coming south on I-15. Meet up with the Calgary group (Malcolm?) coming south through Salt Lake City, and travel with them south where you'll pick up the Las Vegas group. That's a pretty scenic drive if the rockies are snow free. Otherwise plan on coming a little further south before going west, and it will be a bit warmer along the way. No matter what, you'll have a spectacular ride and meet a huge bunch of friends.
