My shop is in Anaheim, which is about 15 miles from Costa Mesa. I do not travel to site, they would need to come to my shop, so that I can put the car in the air. 928's are my specialty. Probably at least a week to get an "emergency" appointment.

Antonio-

I'm right next to Costa Mesa- I might be able to get over there tomorrow before dark (wife's out of town till 5 PM Sunday), or I could have a look after work during the week. PM me and we can figure something out. Let me know if the owner is up to having a dork show up with a camera and take lots of unflattering pictures and ask lots of uncomfortable questions about the car's history. (That's pretty much how the last PPI I did for someone went.....)

EDIT: If my preliminary look is promising, then I'd get Greg on the books for a thorough PPI. Best money you'll ever spend.

Cool. I'll show up in my black on black '90, and fire away. Camera battery's going on the charger.

Rob did one for me and he did a thorough and great job. He got to the bottom of a few questions the owner was evasive about, took a ton of photos and helped me make a bid I was comfortable with. I still owe him a few drinks for that.

Nice of Rob but I'd pay the small fee and have Greg give it a once over before placing any money on the table...Greg knows what to look for and in a shop environment can put it on a lift and see a whole lot more.

Yeah, when Rob did it for me, it was a prelude to negotiation. He checked the car over and that helped me decide what price to offer. But, that offer would still have been contingent upon a PPI. Being far away, it helped a lot to have someone look and take detailed photos before I made an offer and spent a couple hundred bucks on a PPI.

Antonio, Antonio, wherefore art thou, Antonio?

PM'ed you, man, got the pics for you. A nice time capsule '89 S4 Black/black Auto. US car, went to Japan, now back in the states. Side markers on the fenders. 54K miles and (lack of) seat bolster wear to prove it. All originial under the hood except for recent TB/WP. No other records. GTS rear end, scratches to the metal on the hatch under the wing. Shockingly few leaks on the bottom end. A/C works, sport shocks, ride height set to roughly 120mm (could barely get my fist under it). Nice anodized manholes (some curb on one), nearly new S-02's. A few dash and pod cracks. Idles at 800, shifts, accelerates, and stops well.

The killer is that it's been rotary polished down into the primer on several convexities. Ouch.

Sounds pretty good. A shame about the paint, though.
