Post Frenzy 7 Original Date Not Good. Require Feedback.

Hello All 928ers,

Planning for this years annual 928 Frenzy (#7) has begun. We had a
tentative date of 9/27 and 9/28. However, the PCA Club Race is very close
to that date and will limit our ability to get a quality shop to host the
event. Furthermore, getting a track day will also be difficult for that
weekend. PCA Potomac will be working on our behalf to get us a a block of
slots for a Friday At The Track (FATT) which are held on the big track at
Summit Point on select Fridays. That requires that we pick one of 3 dates;
9/19, 10/17 or 10/24 to kick off the Frenzy with some track time. As
always, we try to get close to 9/28 but also we try to space some time
between 928 events, because many of us like to get in as many as we can.
This year, Euro 928 2003 will be held Sept. 12th - 14th and centered around
the Nurburgring. Personally, nothing short of death will keep me from
attending that one, and even then I'm counting that divine intervention
coupled with resurection will occur to ensure I get there.

Larry Gunter will organize a Fall rally and Paul Faupel is working to get a
concors as well.

Feedback please (thoughts, comments, preferences) and soon, so we can get
the ball rolloing. I'd also like to have a frenzy organizing meeting next
week. Let me know if you are in the Washington DC area and are interested
in helping out.

Events
Friday at the track.
Friday Welcome Reception
Saturday Tech sessions and socializing at a TBD shop
Saturday Banquet
Sunday Rally
Concours (day TBD)

Best Regards,
John Eifert
928 Frenzy 7 Event Chairman

I like the October dates. Not much fall foliage in Sept and some of us plan to go back to Banner Elk for Thunder in the Mountains III mid Sept.

So far the feedback has been to have it in Mid October. October 17th looks best. However, traffic on this has been light. Even if you are only considering, I'd prefer an overall consensus. I understand that SOCAL may be doing something late in the year. I'd prefer not to overlap on what they are doing, even if we only get a handfull of west coasters a year, my goal put some space between events.

Hi John,

We are working on the 10/18-19 weekend (and possibly 10/20) for the fall SOCAL event.

A little space between events is always good as you never know what kind of crazed 928 freak might want to trek across the country to take in an event on the other coast. :-)

The only preference I have on a weekend is that it include a Friday At The Track.

John,

I prefer the October dates. I have to go to the Goodwood Historic Races in September to see the Auto Union V16s run.

John,
9/19 works better due to conflict with the SoCal date.
Weather is better in September than October.

So far the October votes lead. Oct 24-26 probably since it will not be the same weekend as SOCAL fall event. FATT is a must.

John,
Has there been any decision on a Frenzy date?

October 24th through 26th. It might be a tad cooler, but we don't interfere with all the other 928 events and we can get a track day with a Summit Point FATT (see my new post on this). There is a bonus for Graduates of the FATT to get Seat time on the new Shennandoa Circuit.

Still trying to track down where the Frenzy will be held this year.
