If we're looking for numbers, this is our opportunity to add two. I'd rather see a concerted effort to attend, even if challenged by mechanical failure, than an empty promise.

Hey Russell, not to side track, but you need to keep an eye out in the Daytona newspapers, they are doing a series of articles on Adam & another student athlete at Stetson. They already started the interviews & said they are going to follow him around for a month! Should be interesting to say the least.
On another note, I finalized the shirt design for the event. Hopefully will get final okie dokie from the 928OC so we can proceed. Then I will be sending out an email to all the Florida 928ers & those outside the state who have said they will attend the event. The deadline for getting the order back in is Oct. 10th, so there won't be alot of wiggle room. Gonna do both T-shirts and hooded sweatshirts. Both will be a light grey with royal blue & black lettering. Should look sharp. And I'm already puttin you down for some sweatshirts Russell!

I'm thinking real serious about driving down from Kentucky. It's just under 900 miles one way for me. I use my Shark as a daily driver, putting 300-500 miles a week on it, mostly Interstate driving. I think it wll do fine. I figure about six fill-ups for the round trip. I have a question about the parking corral at the track: Are we able to park in the 928 corral all three days of the event?

Hope you can make it Robert. It's going to be a very memorable experience. As far as the corrals, I believe they will remain in place throughout. Mel is going early thursday to stake a claim to a prime spot, if that's allowed. G

The parking corrals will be set up as a specific area for each model of Porsche to park in each of the three days. You can, of course, come and go from the event as you please.
If you are asking about keeping your 928 in the corral overnight during the event, that may or may not be possible. Officially, I'd say its not. At the last Rennsport, there were motorhomes of every scale. However, they were all over on one side of the infield & were obviously there for the racers & crews. No motorhomes will be allowed for the general public attending though. The general parking area cleared out each evening since the festivities go dormant dusk to dawn.
If thats what you're asking, you might get away with it & you might not. It might depend upon where they place our specific corral regarding what we are near to whether you'd be noticed or not. Remember, there will be many very rare and very expensive Porsches there from all over the world, so I am sure the track security people will be up all night long keeping an eye on things.
I hope you can make it Robert, that be awesome. I promise you it will be an event you will never forget or regret making the effort to attend! Let me know if you plan to attend & I can get you on our email list to receive any and all updates of what we have going on. My email address is mel@melgward.com
Hope to see ya there!

I was just wondering about the corral parking each day. I wasn't sure if showing our cars in the corral was for just one day or the three days. I'll get a room to stay in for the night time. Thanks for the replies, and hope to meet every one there.

RUB-A-DUB-DUB!!!
Mel, or anyone, do you happen to know of a 'by hand' car wash in the area?
Oh, and ceedee, aka 'Ohh Cee' -- not Ivory soap. . . (from my recollection of earlier days, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth!)

The car model corrals are simply a porsche model specific parking area is all. Just a sectioning off of areas of the infield parking by porsche model. So each day it is where we'll park our sharks.
Regarding a area by hand car wash, there is pretty much anything & everything you'd want along SR92/International Speedway Blvd., but Russell is the local expert who knows exactly what is where.

I'm a little late in chiming in on this. I will be there. I'm taking my "daily driver" however, the MD80.
I've got a Holiday Inn or something right at the Speedway. I get in sometime Friday morning, and fly out Monday morning.
Has anyone else reserved a seat at the PCA dinner Saturday nite? I sent mine in on the first postmark date allowed. It should be the icing on the cake for this event.
I'll be hanging a bit with some 911 buddies, but I plan on hooking up with you Sharksters too. This "dual citizenship" is rough!

We were going to send in the ticket "lottery" for the PCA dinner, but changed our minds. At 1st for some reason I thought it was on Thurs. night which would of worked. But Sat. night will not work for us. Son has a football game Sat. afternoon/early evening, then afterwards they'll be too much Shark Partying & socializing to be concerned with. The dinner should be a real PCA who's who though I'm sure. Ed you need to email me if you want to get a Sharks at Daytona T-shirt or sweatshirt. mel@melgward.com
Look forward to seeing you there!
ps, for what its worth, although I know they are a great group of people, you won't stay long with the 911 crowd after you realize just how much fun all of us Florida Sharkers are to hang around.
