NorCal fun runs
Just an FYI, the guys over on the 944 list are having a couple upcoming fun runs. One from Calistoga to the coast next Saturday, Sept 22 and another in the Sierra on Saturday Oct. 6th. Here the link for some info:
https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-944-951-968-forum/373017-norcal-fun-runs.html
I hope to make the Sierra run if I'm in town that weekend, any other sharks interested?

Check here for the upcoming 4-Pass Sierra fun run https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-944-951-968-forum/381095-feeler-post-4-pass-sierra-fall-run-sat-oct-6th.html
Saturday October 6th. Looks like there are 3 possible routes, so if you're interested let Steve (KuHL 951) know. If the weather co-operates it should be a great drive, perhaps the fall colors will be changing over by then.
I'll be there, anybody else?

Steve, that would be awesome. Brian and Gerry also expressed interest, so a school of sharks chasing the 944 chum would be fun!

Gerry, if you can make it to Taco Tuesday, Steve will have all the details. Otherwise, I'll get them and pass them on. I'm sure we could all meet here in Elk Grove first (since it's on your way) and then go up to the meeting place.

Rich and all,
You'll be coming up my way, I'm just 3 miles west of where Sly Park Road and Morman Immigrant Trail intersect. Mormon Trail (AKA Iron Mountain Road) is a great run, make it many times annually for my son's Band Camp at Silver Lake (and just for fun). What time do you expect to be leaving Sunrise and Hwy 50, I'll give you 50 minutes and, if I can make it, will be waiting for you just the other side of Jenkison Lake (Sly Park Rec Area) at the Forest Service Checkpoint area. If you want a little more interesting run, deviate hwy 50 at Missouri Flat Road, right (south) to Pleasant Valley Road (end of Missouri Flat), left (east) until Pleasant Valley Road turns into Sly Park Road (in Pleasant Valley at Holdiay Market) continue on Sly Park Road about 6.5 miles (uphill) to Mormon Immigrant Trail. Takes you through Diamond Springs and is a nice 45-50 mph run up the hill. Bypasses the Apple Hill traffic and the lights in Placerville that way too.

Dennis, it would be great to meet you and I hope you can join us. Steve is organizing the run, and I'm sure will post more details on the 944 board soon....in any case I'll be sure to let you know the timing. Gonna be great if the 928's outnumber the 944's!!!
Brian, clean out the garage early so the shark can swim free.

Rich: once again intercollegiate athletics prevent me from attending Taco Tuesday so I will see you guys on Saterday. All of the fall sports conclude by the end of the month so we should be able to make it to the November and December Taco Tues. events.

Gerry, it's getting dark much earlier now, so I'm not sure we will have the Taco Tuesday's much longer. I'll ask around and let you know.
See you Saturday!!

Check the 944 board for the Fun Run thread and chime in if you are confirmed or on the fence https://rennlist.com/forums/showthread.php?t=381095
Looks like a good group so far, including a 968 Turbo! I'll see Steve tonight and discuss which route will be chosen (see map on first page). Any suggestions? Route B could include a stop at the Calaveras Big Trees, and would probably be best for the central valley and east bay drivers.

It's good to see some sharks come out to play and I'm sure you won't be disappointed, it's a great route. Route B will be the one most of us take, with a few maybe having to bail early and come back to Sacto on 88. Keep checking the link below and post up if you are confirmed or need more info. The meeting map is posted, I'll have maps for everyone, and assume it's a brown bagger with our lunch stop in Markleeville. The Fall colors should be great after the light snows they've had. Some of us meet up early at Starbucks, 99 and Bond Road and caravan up to the main meeting spot.
Again, glad to see the interest and looking forward to meeting new people.

The meeting place is Hwy 50 and Sunrise Blvd in the Marriot parking lot, 8:45 to 9:00. Departure from there will be approx. 9:30. Steve posted a map of the meeting spot on the 3rd page of his thread. If anybody is coming up from Stockton/central valley (Brian, Gerry & Sara, etc) or the east bay (Steve, Bill, etc), I could meet you in Elk Grove along I-5 and you can follow me to Hwy 50/Sunrise Blvd.
As mentioned, Steve will have color maps of the route printed out for everybody. There is a deli in Markleeville, however it may or may not be open. So bring along something to eat and drink just in case it's closed. And be sure to bring your cameras!
Send me a message if you have any questions or need help. This drive should have a mix of everything....Highways, curves, hillclimbs, mountain passes, downhills, scenery, colors, nice weather, giant redwoods, and best of all a great group to enjoy a drive with!!!
