If that is the case, I do make them.

The reason some of you are so dissatisfied with some of the aftermarket boots available, is simply because they have not been properly prepared for installation.

In order to fit properly, the leather that is to cover the **** as to be cut small, skived and then stretched in place. Once you are done, the leather should look like it was painted on.

The original boots that came in the cars were made and installed like that. Most, if not all the boots available aftermarket are just straight leather sewn together. Even a pro would have a hard time making those things fit properly

Paul

Paul brings up a very good point.....each boot (for automatics) really needs to be fitted to the car with its individual shift lever throw-height-etc....

I had mine done by a local leather shop that also fixed my seats.....the center armrest and shift lever were done by Paul!

Paul--

Do you sell the boot WITH ****? If so, do you sell it in the original black, or only in ostrich? My car's interior is all black.

BTW I visited your website-- extremely impressive, my good sir.

Hey Scott,

I make my parts in any color that is requested. I use Porsche spec. leather. Ostrich is something I used for my own car. Although I did a few parts in black Ostrich for some people here.

The rubber **** itself is probably good. The button on top that carries the shift pattern might need to be refreshed. But if either are damaged or missing, they are available separately.

I ordered this directly from Porsche, very happy with it. Cut down my shifter about 1/2 inch shorter than a GTS.

Hi Chuck,

Question from ignorance:
Did you ever bang your knuckles with this shifter, it looks really low?
Do you recall how much, or the part number?

Hey Stan,

Nope, pretty much the opposite. The shifter very short so it's more of a flick of the wrist. Not much movement at all, so it doesn't go too far forward or aft. To give you an idea, the first pick is neutral, second it's in first gear. I don't recall the part #, but its just the GTS shift/boot combination. I think you can only get it in black now.

As far as the shift lever itself, I grabbed a GTS lever at the Porsche store here locally and took measurements on it. I dremmeled mine to look exactly like it (shape, etc) only about 1/2 shorter. It really changed the "feel" of the car. It's more of a flick of the wrist vs a throw of the shifter. I used to have to unbuckle my seatbelt and climb up a bit to shift her into 4th!!!

Hope that helps

Thanks Chuck, I have the short shifter in my race car, sounds like you created something of similar length. I guess I can check into this, it would be for the GT, where the stock shifter is reasonably short too.
