I popped the thottle rod off its pivot and then disassembled the throttle-cable support and the fan. That can be done in about ten minutes.

yes, see my thread on the quick check technique that incorporates drilling a small hole in the bottom part of the cover and pushing up a certain max distance using you thumb. this is pretty accurate and i use it all the time when that sensor comes on. when loose, it is noticable using this technique and on the porsche mesureing tool it can be near 3.5 or 4 on the correct scale of 5
