should be a great racing weekend, and there are two point scoring races. one at 1pm on Saturday and one at 3pm on Sunday.
Let me know if anyone is going to be around. Both scot and I will be there with the 928 flags waving high!

here are some mangusta pictures. I recognize the transam car, but never thought it was actually a street car.

Guess what? They are also including all the American V8 racing division in our class. remember that racing group back east that has been gaining momentum? they are finally coming out west. i wont be classed with them, but it will be interesting to see how the 928 stacks up. right now, im in almost perfect shape to run. all i need to do is downsize my rear tires to 275s. dyno verified HP to weight is good for the class. we are going to have A LOT of cars out there!!!! looking like 70 as we speak!

Qualfying today.
45 cars or so. I went out qualifying 1st in line, and ended up with only 1 clean lap, my 1st lap! kind of tough, no practice, and one lap for qualifying. the car was a little pushy and the low power thing is starting to be a problem. (i cant make it to 4th gear on some of the straights and am running the engine hard to near 6500rpm on all shifts.)
We were invited to a Griggs Racing after qual party to talk about the AV8SS racing group starting out west. He mentioned that our cars could possibly take advantage of race gas, even though i told him of my understanding of our timing being fixed by the stock ECU. I am making a little white/blue smoke in the redline area from what some of the racers told me. maybe im buring some oil and getting detonation and the timing is being pulled back. ???
Anyway, the 997 GT3 cup car finished on the pole with a time i ran just last month and he certainly has about 7 seconds there waiting for him to grow into the car. the vet, camaro S2000 and my nemisis at sears, the M3 are all near 1:50 and im gridded up in the 3rd row.
Time to buckle down and drive a consistant race and hope i can catch a few traffic brakes. Then, there is always sundays qual and race again! (where ill try some newer tires, than the '03 toyos im running!)
The bad news is that my main battle is with the Vet who will be right in front of me. I need to beat him more than he beats me over the next 6 races to win the championship He just got his car dynoed. he is at 393rwhp and im at 298rwhp
TIM?????? Hows the stroker bottom end coming together!!!!!!!????

Mark:
I may be up after all. I'll be watching your tailpipe closely - I've never seen it smoke before. It sounds to me like you're having some growing mechanical issues. I can't remember if you resolved the compression being off on one side. But things like broken timing gear teeth and what's going now, never stopped you from beating the car around the track before.

Mark,
You are currently using only 91 octane, or has Cali taken it a notch lower already? I would have thought that you'd be using a blend of race and pump gas to make up for California's lousy fuel grades.
I know it is like burning money, but maybe you should be trying halvsies so you don't have to guess how often your timing is being retarded by knock sensors. Just don't let it happen at all.
