To mount them I'm filling the 3 existing holes in the door. This mirror isn't on a tall stalk so it wants to be mounted high, in between the top most hole and window.
They adjust by tilting the glass in all directions, the whole mirror body also tilts on its base so you can make it level with the car.

Here are some pics Ter', I filled the existing holes. There are some convenient reinforcments under the new mirror mounting point, thick enough that I tapped some 10-32 threads in them, dispensed with the sheet metal screws that came with the mirror and used some titanium screws I have lying around. I originally planned to ad a backing plate. Thanks again for the tip, I really love these mirrors, the Ebay seller probably has an infinate supply. Now I have to resist the urge to paint them...

Oh Boy - I have been missing a great thread - that will teach me to do a TT job and stay under a car toooo long.
Sunset Porsche are selling the Aero Mirror Kit at a real low price and making 5 or 10% margin.
They rely on volume to make there money and good luck to them.
Do they know anything about 928s - not really.
Can you call them up and ask where does this bolt go - I doubt it.
Like my fellow suppliers in 928 land I do this to make money - sorry if that is offensive.
Brad bought a set of mirrors from me that I bought on eBay at a good price.
He is a personal friend and he got them for what I paid including postage.
Well it was not Brad really it was his wife - I will do anything for a beutiful classy woman.
I sell them for $485 a set and if there is something wrong with the set - it happens - I put it right no questions asked. Do I make a small margin - yes - I am in business - not in the charity business.
I am sure George does not mind me giving this information - he paid $110 for me to get his mirrors professionally painted - I paid $100 - he paid $10 for me to take the mirrors to the painter and esure they were perfect - thats a good deal and I think he was very happy with the result.
Ryan you are a great person so no worries from me my friend.
The 928 community is wonderful.

For what its worth (and not to take anything away from Roger), the Sunet guys are pretty darned good with "what bolt goes where". Not to the extent that someone who focuses on just 928's might, but overall, they are pretty sharp and very helpful.

Resurrecting this thread...
I'm seriously thinking of upgrading to the GTS mirrors. Any advice on where to buy?
I have an e-mail in to Sunset Porsche (Oregon) to get their current pricing.
928Intl has them for $600, 928Motorsports has them for $700.

I posted how to install Tiburon mirrors on the 944 with a simple bracket....Way more Aerodynamic than the flag crap....which look like 928 mirrors.....
No CNC needed....

Roger does indeed charge 485.00 and the 115.00 brought a flawless paint job, from someone he trusts. ---Is this kind of money justified for a pair of side mirrors. No, not really. It's insane, almost. However, if I'm going to pay the cover charge to get into this party, I might as well buy some drinks. I thought about getting the manual mirrors, they almost never get readjusted. Then I realized that there would be two very expensive switches with no function on my door.

Who knows more about this Aero adapter for older cars...?
All S4 w/ flag mirror have the same drive electrics as the aero mirrors - though the connections are no doubt slightly different - most owners should be able to handle the wire mapping OK.
Pre S4's have the same looking flag mirrors with very different electrics... and the car wiring is quite different too. Is the adaptor to make Aero's work with these cars?
The way that system works is really quite different.. who makes this adaptor?

The following links are for 911's but it might fit our cars. The black aftermarket mirrors posted above (CA style), i had purchased in the past for a 911. First they would not fit a 911 due to the mounting hole beneath the mirrors base. Second, the mirrors will begin to wable at high speeds. I really liked the looks, but did not like quality.

Fabio that was pretty funny when I saw your post. I can remember Dave trying to belittle me about this, here's what he said.
Good to see they decided to make the magic black box, for most people this is the easiest solution which is why I was using this solution made locally 5 years ago.
Alan did an excellent write up on the topic and it can be found in this link.

Once again.......
The earlier mirrors use one motor to move both directions (2 wires, reversing polarity to reverse direction). They use a solonoid to change the drive mechanism from horizontal to vertical (one wire to activate the solonoid and the same two wires reversing polarity to reverse direction). Old cars can be made to work with just newer style switchs (position and side) and a bit of rewiring. It's not necessary to over-engineer a unit to convert it. If you don't use or need the mirror heaters, you have an excess of wires to use for the conversion. I will do a wiring diagram to post as soon as I get a free moment or two. All you need is one additional wire (mirror heater?) to get the proper amount of wires necessary (1 pair of wires for each direction/motor, reversing polarity to reverse direction).
Or should I just make a magic black box to convert it and retire with my millions?
