But thats just the dealer... Then we have the Manf rep who blew me off...... I guess it is almost a sickness where if i get bad customer I just will not go back. Sometimes to the point where it cost me money. Such as this, Im going to eat these KUMHO's. i will give it consideration if they have have just ef'd up... but not the case here.. the rep blew me off and the dealer forgot about me or doesnt think im worth the bother. So the heck with um.
Fair enough. I'm an optimistinc and thought maybe there was more to this problem but looks like there isn't.

You can always use them or have soemone else use it for drag racing!

The tire business today is a very hard business to make any money. The online discounters have driven prices way down. Most shops see about a 15% GROSS margin on tires . A $500 sale is about $75 plus before you factor in wages rents overhead in general. Kuhmo was not going to take back the used mounted tires the local dealer was the one who would have to eat the loss form selling a used set of tires plus taking them off mounting new tires and balancing them. The days of great customer service have pretty much gone away along with the high prices .

Hi all,
I switched from the Kumho supra to the goodyear f1 and the f1's are stickier and very quiet by far...I love them. We are putting them on the corvette in a week or 2 .

Hahaha! Especially after watching Shark Week all week on the Discovery Chanel. :chomp: :chomp: :chomp:

So --I woke up this morning hung over and realized that maybe I crossed the line (posting after getting back home, 3 martini's deep) and thought about deleting it, but Heinrich responded, so I was caught! I hope I didn't offend any of the great ladies on this forum, so instead would like to request tires that smell like Chanel #5 (which may be equally offensive).

Tire performance is really not a brand thing. I once has low end Pirellis on one of my 914s. It would spin at the drop of a hat. Not spin the tires, spin the car. I have driven lots of 914s with lots of different tires before, but I had never met one that wanted to spin. Put a set of plain jane michies on it and it was good as gold. I loved the Kuhmos on my '82, but I was told they were not available in the correct size for the S4 rear rims.

welcome to doing business in the current day and age.....and now they screw their only advatage, customer service. I have the same exact issue in my business... I use every aspect of being local and giving well above expected customer service. I am sorry they do not see it the same way. Fast and accurate serive is the only way a lot of businesses are going to make it now. Some are taking an attitude and giving bad customer service.... they will fall eventually

About 20 years ago, I had a factory Chrysler rep explain to me the factory's customer service position regarding a known issue with one of their engines. He said their stance was that for every 25 Chrysler customers that were unhappy & wouldn't buy their cars again, there would be 25 Ford & 25 GM customers who were unhappy with those models that would replace them. I calmly replied, "Nope, all 75 of the unhappy customers are turning to Toyota, Honda & Nissan instead, & yet you wonder why all three of you are having trouble staying afloat"

Shame you had that response from the dealer or Kumho, but its the way of the world nowadays. I run a small business too & its impossible to always be perfect with customers. There are going to be problems, but its how you handle those problems that matters.

I also usually take your same position when I am treated as you were. About the only thing you can do to feel you are effectively responding is with your check book, by not supporting them in using their service or products in the future. You are correct that sometimes you end up wondering if you are only hurting yourself if it adds either cost or hassle for you or if they would even notice or care. But most of us work very hard for what money we have & choosing who & who not you want to buy products or service from is certainly the one response you can have to a bad experience.

I think with your longstanding relationship with them, I would have at least called the dealer back to revisit the situation about not being happy with the tires. They didn't make them, but they sell them & they should care if their products are substandard in a customer's mine. At least if they did not respond the 2nd time you know without a doubt how little they value your business at that point.

In the mean time, so far I've had very good results from the Kumhos, the last 3 sets are the Ecsta ASXs & those all have at least a year on 3 different sports cars, two of which are daily drivers.
