the S4 looks-very good- in 'some' picture angles.
-Some not so good.
-Rear shot- very nice
-side-o.k
-front-very nice.
-From a bit of a height - 3/4 front view very nice.
-direct top view-very nice
-rear 3/4 view- something looks out of proportion-not quite right.
-The wing helps break that up.
-The *** looks too long. Also the length of the hatch glass makes matters worse.
-The wing lifts up the rear-end and makes it more wedge like. shorter-i.e sportier.
Also the wing helps somewhat at speed.
-Being black and a different texture than paint and being on a different colored car makes it look a-bit after market.

If (when?) I had an S4 I would delete the wing. Love the look, very modern.
This coming from a guy who added spoilers to his OB.

Holy thread resurection! Erik, you hang wit the the DFW group don't you? There's a few 928's sporting the wingless "Dallas Look" if I remember correctly.

As old as this thread is, I am STILL undecided as regards removing the wing from my GT.

Wingless
I bought my 89 s4 with the wing removed by PO. I think it looks way more modern and smoother lines. I thought about putting a wing back on but after seeing mine beside one with a wing, I have changed my mind.

I'd love to whack the rear spoiler on the red 'S' as, in my opinion, it's just fugly. However, after reading this entire thread I'm still not sure that if I whack the spoiler do I need to whack the front air dam too? If so that would be fine with me as it's almost as fugly as the rear spoiler (in my opinion)

Had a 79 euro ,always wanted to put a wing on it.As far as more modern, look's like a 78 79 or early 928 to me . When the new ones came out everybody wanted their car to look more modern, so spoilers and wings. Just my three cents .

Ah...." everybody wanted their car to look more modern" that was then when a 1987 was a NEW car.....so many added the wings to make a $5,000 car look more like a $50,000 car..
Now wings look too much like the 1990s ....and big free standing race wings on a street car just looks like a wantabee....
And Aerodynamic balance and the "dangers" of being wingless are far overstated you get more downforce from a full tank of gas !

"The rear wing just looks more menacing". I can't remember who said that, but I do agree. It's also pretty much the only item that was not deleted from the exterior. The wing stays. T
