Default my new MY89 S4

Hi

Here is a pick of my new 89 model S4.

I paid membership today and ive been here reading for about a year i think.
Ive got a few things to play with on the car but the car is in awesome conditon.
Very well looked after by the previous owner (rennlister).

Since buying the car i have put the black cup 2 wheels and i think it looks
great. Im a bit concerned about the offsets on the front as they are 52mm
as it tram rails sometimes.
I have read about stiffer strut braces helping with this does anyone have
experience with these or any other adjustments?

Phot taken on my phone so not the best quality.
Cheers
Sam

Nice looking shark. The painted wing goes well in that color too. Pretty decent pic for a cell phone.
Welcome!!

Looks great!

But as you mentioned the incorrect offsets may cause unpredictable behaviour in extremis due to the reduced scrub radius.

Also, if you don't know already Nick McKenna is a very useful local souce of used parts.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Im pretty happy with the look but still tossing up the wheel selection (tram railing problems).

Sometimes it doesnt worry me then there is a crap road and i get over it real quick.
I think ill put the old wheels on for a while and see how much difference there is.
I wanted the 997 carrera rims so if there is no solution to lower the tram railing
then i may sell the cup 2's and get some 997 rims and paint them black.
They would look cool !

Awesome!

Just my opinion, but the black wheels don't seem compliment the elegance of the silver colour.

The matched wing is perfect.

Hi Sam

Looks cool.

Is that Palm Beach ?

When do we get to see it in the flesh ? - will you be at the Sydney Landsharks meet at Naremburn on the 14th ?

Edit - where in Sydney are you?

That would be a good idea. It could be alignment, loose wheel bearings or other slack in the steering, balljoints or A-arm bushings. Tires also contribute.

Hi Jon,
Yeah i took the pic up at palm beach the other day.
I live at Newport there seems to be a few sharks up this way.
I wont be able to come the Landshark meeting on the 14th as i have a charter
on the harbour (boat skipper).
I would love to go on a cruise if one comes up.
It would be great to get the car out on the open road with some other sharks.

Thanks Bill im pretty sure all is sweet with the suspension/steering but i will
get my mate (mechanic also) to have a better look.

I was thinking about the strut brace upgrade but $300 is fine if it makes a difference . I just dont want to pay for something that may not work.

Randy, the black wheels and the tinted windows contrast pretty well in person
The colour is Diamond Blue. But the wheels make the colour change
Personal prefence and i wouldnt do it on many colours.

Thanks for the kind comments

Sam

Hi Sam

The next Frenzy is up to port Macquarrie over the weekend of 21, 22. 23rd of September.

Drive up in company Friday Night Go Karting race on the saturday followed by dinner saturday night and a roundabout route home on the sunday. - Good if you could join us .

Edit I just realised you are just around the corner from Matt Nicholson who has enough parts to build at least 3 928s I don't know if he has a whole 928 at present though.

Regards

Nice looking car Sam! Interesting feedback on the wheels.. I'll be curious to hear your opinion on switching back to the originals for comparison.

I'm getting my car blue-slipped and rego'd next week, so I'll be adding one more to the collection of sharks seen in the northern beaches area (Belrose here).. it finally got quarantine-inspected out of customs and can be released

Jon - Matt's got at least 2 whole 928's at the moment (well, he did when I was round there a few weeks ago).. an 89 GT and the old '82 (or maybe earlier?) OB with a pascha interior.

My my,
that car sure seems vaguely familiar to me.......................

But I live in Airlie and the Tropics do stange things to one's mind at times.....................

The only tram lines here are for the Cane trains!
