What other 18 year old car can do this?

My passenger, while still belted in, had to lean over, stick his digital camera in front of my face to get the photo (he took several) - so the gage pod is as it was - it's not crooked, the photographer was crooked. The digital speedo was also on, but it washed out due to the flash. The photo (and drive) was at 6:30 a.m. PST, so it was just getting light outside - we still needed the flash to get the shot. We ran out of safe room to get the car up higher (we were shooting for 165 or 170).

160 solid! Nice shot.
Les you gotta get some Open Road Racing under your belt before you get cuffed-n-stuffed for these shenanigans.
Allow me to quote verbatim his "intro" post in a little thread about a bank repo 928 awhile back. I like this guy already.

Then I trailered it up to Mark and Susan at Devek, wrote a check for $10, and said, get it running. 6 months alter, and a couple thousand more, I flew up to San Jose, a worker at Devek picked me up in my car, and drove me back to Mark and Susan. Then, I drove the beast home to San Fernando Valley, CA and began the learning process about the black hole 928's can be. Fortunately, I met Markus Herm in Santa Monica and he helped me complete the restoration of the 89 along with a new paint job (done by a body-shop customer of mine). I had looked for a while for a 5spd, but grew impatient, so I got the Hawaiian. About a year after I had finished the restoration, I saw an 84 5spd advertised in Fresno. I took Markus up to Fresno with me and for $4k I purchased the Fresno car. This was confirmation that 928 owners grossly exaggerate how great their cars run, and how little work they need....it was raining in Fresno when we picked up the car; you could't run the defroster because somke would come pouring out of the center vents; the windows would go down, but not up (raining); you couldn't fill the gas tank because there was a hole in the filler neck - but, it was a 5 spd (that does not necessarily mean that all 5 spds worked....); I have been restoring it and have turned it into my street/track car. Restoration will be complete with a new paint job which is in the works. On the weekend I got home from Fesno, a buddy of mine whose job it is to bind excotic cars, called me and told me I had to come over and see what was in his driveway; when I got there, it was a beautiful Guards Red 89S4 5spd and, of cousre, I had to have it. Nothing but regular maintenance done (except R134 conversion); runs great and has been at Willow - as have all of my 928's. Because the Fresno car was black and the Hawaiian was black, I parked the Fresno on the side of the house; it took more than a year before my wife realized I had 2 black 928's - too late by then...the 356 has been a 15 year project, finished 2 years ago, driven less than 500 miles a year and every times I drive it I ask myself why I don't drive it more....the Fresno has had major upgrades (GT tranny and MSD (modified); GTS brakes; S4 suspension; Powerdyne supercharge (from 928 Motorsports -yea Carl); roll bar,m upgraded A arms sway bars, coil-over Bilstein's, 17 inch turbo twist wheels, custom center console switches (everythign works all the time every time); upgraded stereo and amp, and working R134 AC - my biggestt problem is finding time to drive each 928 - like kids they are all different, but the Fresno is my favorite (don't tell the others) followed closely by the 2 89S4's; both 89's have been driven at 160+ mph (with photos of speedo), going to try and get the Hawaiian up to 165 in the next few weeks (photo will be posted); I'm still sketchy on whether I want to take the Fresno up to that speed because we have just apparently resolved the internal supercahrger belt breaking problem, but it probably won't we long. Anyway, that's the short answer to your question. Anything I can answer for you specifically? BTW, the licence plates are: 89Zoomr; 5spd 89 and 5spd 84. You figure out which one is which.
