Default I may have an engine. Well at least part of it.

I don't know what happened inside my engine yet. I've been working out of town and haven't had time to pull it.

I located a local parts engine tonight. I'm not sure it's a usable core yet. I have a friend with a engine he purchased several years ago from Renegade Hybrids. I think it's an 83 but I don't remember. He told me it sat so long in the shop it's stuck now and he can't turn it over.

So it's mine if I come and get it. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

I'm thinkin I hope it at least has a good 4.7 block. It was an auto car... maybe thrust issues... I'll know more tomorrow. (block # at least)

thrust bearings only effect auto S4's 87+

I havent heard of these issues on 4.5 and 4.7 L engines but i also dont know much about those engines and the early 928's as i do about the later ones, so proceed with caution.

IIRC, 86 is when the circlip and shims were discontinued. My 86.5 doesn't have them.

The circlip groove is there, though, until the shaft diameter was made larger, in 88(?).

now, you need to rebuild it. did you forget we have scots almost brand new 4.7 engine ready to go?
$1500 and its yours. new seals, bearings, rings, and has only a few hours on it and dynoed at 250rwhp. even a free old engine, that doesnt turn needs about $2k of tender loving care.
Ill save you $500 and a lot of time! Ill even toss in some heads if you want!

Mark, isn't it against the rules to offer an item to a nonmember who previously asked in contravention of said rules, for that same something?

Circlip and washers were deleted in '85 MY.

'88 is correct.

From reading his build thread I can say that it was a Euro.

Originaly posted by Mark Kibort: now, you need to rebuild it. did you forget we have scots almost brand new 4.7 engine ready to go?
BTW, just to play devils advocate here. Mark K's 4.7L Euro engine that is being discussed here, was removed from the car after only running a few hours. This was after a total rebuild. The reason it was pulled was because the head gasket/gaskets were leaking due to not following a proper torque procedure. Would I be right to assume that the rest of the engine was assembled with this same attention to detail? I'm just sayin'.
