Default Muhahahaha - IT'S ALIVE

After flipping the starter for 10 seconds w/o the fuel pump relay to circulate the oil, I plugged the relay in, turned the key and held my breath.

2 seconds....3...4...5...BWAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!

It's ALIVE!!!!!

Nice steady, even idle. Lifters are noisy, but they should quiet down after a few miles.

Good job with your engine, and good job with your own perseverance.

What an incredibly long way you've come Dave, from the "guy who'd never changed a spark plug!" Someone we all admire & I personally look up to!

Now get out & enjoy that '85 32v that you've worked so hard on!

Dave,
That is great news! Your chances have greatly diminished that you would ever have to open up that engine ever again.

Thanks for the kudos, everyone.

I still need to add coolant, steering ATF, and hunt around for any leaks (I've got a drip from the front fuel pressure damper fix - probably not tight enough).

I'm waiting for a formed oil hose to arrive tomorrow, too. I used a straight hose that's binding on the throttle linkage, so no driving until Tuesday.

I'm actually nervous to drive it. I haven't driven it since SITM '06.

Great news. I was wondering if you were going to get it running or not. Sounds like you still have a couple days of odds and ends to finish up, but at least she's running.

Too bad there's no AC becasue it's gonna be hotter than Hell this week.

My A/C has worked for all of 3 days since 2001. I prefer to hear the engine with the windows down, anyway.
