[QUOTE=918-S]I'm just not into being someones bitch or personal ATM.QUOTE]
In that case think about it as an ATM reimbursement. Usually you can get parts that around 1/2 times less that what you will pay on ebay. If you buy from a member at least you know what you will be getting, not a US engine instead of that Euro you paid for could be a good example.

I don't understand how some people can assume to know all about someones problems by reading one post. interesting.... There is some very mean spirited responses here. I don't understand why some of you feel the compulsion to do that. Maybe you can explain. Would you speak that way to my face? Do you talk to your family like that? Does the disguise of the internet give you some kind of special courage? I really don't think so.
I'm a paid member of a couple of other real online clubs. The not for profit type with thousands of members from all over the world. None of the sites have spam, the buy/sell transactions have the same success rate as this site. Members buying from other enthusists. I think there is some mis-information being expounded here. This is a great marketing tool for vendors. Wonderful! We need them. This place and others bring our traffic to them. They spend lots of real hard earned money to put themselves infront of us. In any event, I understand the con-cept. You all don't mind paying. That's fine. So I'll pay up or shut up. But If I pay will I have the right to make rude and personal attacks? Can I welcome other potencial paying customers that way?
Thank you to those of you that were polite enough to remind me of the rules in a respectful manor.

We don't need to know everything. You started a thread looking for a motor. PERIOD
Any type of wanted ad is not allowed by the Rennlist charter unless you are a paying member. What is so hard to understand about this?

Someone get up on the wrong side today? Did I not spell it out for you? You can put your jerk suit back in the closet now. Get yourself a nice cup of coffee and have a nice day. I said I get it.

Theres a mob mentality here. Once there is blood in the water it becomes a feeding frenzy. Ask the castaways over at The Island of Misfit Toys (Pelican). They will confirm this. Even if you hadn't asked about buying something, people would have tried to guilt you into paying for a membership fee eventualy. Its the hip thing to do here.

Nice marketing tool. If I ran this site I'd delete this thread. Hell, I could do anything I wanted. Who would want potencial customers to see how rude people are. That will keep traffic coming here. John D. I send you my blessing. Delete this thread too.

You know, it's like a 5 year old that never stops asking "why" over and over and over.....
You had your answer in the first response. A quick, short, honest answer. Then you fell off the deep end.
We don't make the rules, we may not like all of the rules. Fact is there are rules we all follow. Pretty simple concept.
In the first post, bottom right hand corner is a white piece of paper icon (not sure if non-member can see this).
Click this to edit the opening post - the choose "close thread". Again, not sure if you will have this ability.

Can't we all just get along?
Fabio nailed it on the head. Everyone here is part of a community and being part of it, we feel a responsibility to each other. I like to support Randy and John D. with my membership because they run a great operation here.
Without getting into it too much, once you say negative things about the people who run the show on their own website, it's kind of like slapping them in the face in public. It just puts everyone off.
I think until the 'B' word was used, or the reference to the personal ATM, everything was fine. There is no doubt a veil that some people feel protects them when they say things on the internet that they wouldn't say in person, but sometimes that cuts through the BS and tells you how they really feel, it's just different.
IMHO, this is a 'technical forum' first and foremost. The administrators allow members to post requests for parts or parts for sale (one per month, I think) here as a courtesy, but it really gets in the way of the technical exchange. If non-members were allowed to pop in, set up an anonymous login and sell (or buy) stuff, it would become a free-for-all that would water down and eventually kill the technical assistance this forum is best known for.
918-s, I think you're honestly not trying to sham anyone or trying to get away with anything, but once you go negative, you ask for negativity. I think if you just re-stated your original disagreement with the administrators, it would go a long way toward quieting the 'mob mentality' and make you some great contacts here whether you're a member or not.

NJSharkFan, I said what I said. I would say the same thing to the owners of the sites face. That's the way I roll. I'm frank and honest. The comment is stark in nature. Pointed, and a personal way I feel about a rule. The key here is the way I feel about a rule.
Thank you for your response

No offense intended 918-S, but you are listed on this site in the category as a "user". Most of the rest of us paid the $18.00 because we are "addicts". Since joining this site (actively) 4 months ago I have learned more technical and real-life information about the awesome automobiles we drive and made personal contact and quick friendships with a plethora of people. Cost: $18.00. Value: Priceless. Just pony up and join! You'd spend that much on a couple of six-packs or a cheap bottle of wine. Just my opinion.

I never have figured out why so many on this forum encourage others to become paying memebers ansd insist on enforcing the rules. While I abide by them, I don’t necessarily agree with them. There is absolutely no doubt his form is valuable to 928 owners, but I don’t see how spending $18 adds to this value. The value of this forum comes from the wisdom gained by other contributions (free contributions I may add).
I’ve been to plenty of other car forums (VW & MB) as well as other topics (Car Audio, Windjammer, HVAC repair) and none of them insist on charging money as vehemently as members from this site do. Why is that? I just don’t get what makes this form different from the 5 or 6 others I participate on.
I understand serving up a website costs money for servers, bandwidth, maintenance, etcetera, but how is it the other sites do this same service for free? Ironically from a user interface standpoint, many of the other sites appear to be identical in all other aspects.

Thank you for backing me up. Your post is curtious and respectful of others.
This is the point where I need to appoligize. I think I opened Pandoras Box. If I could delete this I would. I can't be held responsible for the course of this exchange.
