Loud ticking from injector(s)?

Sure it's not lifters?
Every 928 I've ever been around has ticking injectors. How hard is it to disconnect those? With the engine running I would pull them off one by one to see if it's one injector or maybe rule them out all together.
This is how I found my dead injector a few years ago.

Rich,
If it's the lifters, it could be that valve that's supposed to shut when the engine is off to keep the oil from draining out of the top of the engine when it's cold (can't remember what it's called).
Is it just when you start up or is it all the time?
If it's just when you start up it's probably lifters, and it may be that they're gummed up. You can put some Rislone(?) oil treatment in your oil, it's supposed to clear out the gum that can cause sticky hydraulic lifters. I used to hear mine when I first started up, but the Rislone took care of it.
If it's not just when the car is cold, it could still be lifters, but it could be injectors also.
If it's injectors, I think it's better to replace them all than to try to fix or replace one. Some people have theirs serviced or cleaned, but it's not too much to replace them every 20 yrs or so (like $300 a set I think?) so if that's it, you might be due.

It seems all 928's tick to a certain extent.....either from some type of lifter tick or injector tick....but everyone I've ever heard does it...... If you do the injectors do them all....I would just send them out to have them balanced and resealed.....if that doesn't fix it.....then it has to be lifters

I had my injectors done over the winter and they still tick. I seems like more on the left side. I agree with Hacker, Disconnect them one at a time and see if it changes.

I also seem to have a bit of lifter tick.....I notice it the most on cold starts after sharky has been sitting a while (think week+).... It always is quieter if I drive daily....or when I first change the oil.....however it does seem slighter quieter with the amsoil...
