Default Trans. Problem....strange?

Hey got a problem my 84 Automatic...............when I first start the car and put it in reverse it will leave a small trail of Trans. fluid on the floor. Only when I first start out (ground is level) Now if I do the same in Drive it will not do it...what in the world is this. I figured if it was the front seal it would do it in any gear...

Thoughts...Ideas??

First make sure the seal on the reservoir cap is good.

Your 1984 car should have an A28/ 4 speed transmission; this is a very uncommon problem. My guess, since the B3 / Reverse apply piston is located on the front pump, when the piston applies, it pushes the pump forward allowing fluid to leak passed the pump gasket or supporting bolts. IF its leaking from the front of the transmission.

Yeah the car does not do this in drive............only when cold in reverse. Backed it probably 25 feet and it left a football size puddle in the garage. Never when warm and only in reverse!

Steve if its the problem you spoke of......what is a fix?
