Well. If that's what you like....

The 928 stock seat, by comparison, is rock solid. Hell, my 20+ year old 16v Scirocco seat flexes just a bit less than the Z's seat. Me - I don't like my seat modulating what the car's trying to tell me on the track.

The 2007 911 I sat in with 100% drab gray interior was no better than the last Corvette I was in.
True Dat

IMO the only company that 'gets' interiors at the moment is Audi. But, that's another thread.

It boils down to what has been tested to save my *** if I hit the wall at the track.

FIA certification > stock Porsche seats

Just making a point that how the seat "feels" is not a reflection on quality.

i always get confused with all the new versions of the vet. I know C5. i know C6, and then the Zo6 version was the 505hp one right, but what is the C7? which one is the 7 liter, the C7 is that over 500hp now for a zo6? Ls6 = 6 liter ls7 = 7 liter ??? i used to know this stuff, but the years just keep coming and these monsters get faster and faster!

anyway, a buddy of mine, in most all of my racing videos, Bruce Matesso (aka, MR M3), drove one of his wifes fathers Vets at thunderhill with a new set of hoosiers on it. the owner was around 2:15 , bruce clicked off a 2:04.xx with the owner in the passenger seat. Not bad for a full street car with little mods, and 500rwhp. i know its a C6 at least, but it could be more. im sure it could average 2:00 with no passenger in it, and probably for 25hours!!! hey, that would be a winner in the longest endurance race in the world!

They do make FIA-cert'd seats that don't flex.

And by flex, wrt to the 'vette seats, I mean "feels like you are sitting on top of a jack-in-the-box that's sprung from the box."

It sounds like a C6 Z06 with the 7 liter 427....505hp 470 torque in a quoted 3162 lb car...with 275 front 325 rear stock tires....It seems the hot setup is new rims with 295 fronts and 345 rears (same as vipers).....a couple easy engine mods (exhaust-chips-cams) can get you close to 600whp......

The C6 Z06 is the same car that Paul has.....he took me out for a session around thunderhill.....its wicked fast & handles good too.....Bone stock C6 Z06's were clocked at 1:40.5 around Laguna on crappy run flats......bigger DOT slicks would drop at least a couple seconds off that....I figure a stock Z06 on DOT's could run 1:38 at laguna & probably around 2:00 at Thunderhill, mid 1:40's at Sears....remember this is the same car that lapped the green hell in 7:42 on stock run flat tires!!

The ALMS C6R's were lapping Laguna at 1:19's in qualifying......that is smoking....but a 650hp 2480lb race car should be!

Maybe having a car in pieces is like having a pregnant wife. As much as you love her, your mind might stray to fully operational models.

I tested every seat Recaro and Sparco makes, all mounted with the FIA required side mount brackets. They all flexed without being strapped into a harness. Even the carbon fiber ones.

C1, C2, C3 etc... are model versions much like 928's with S1, S2, S3, S4 etc.... Has nothing to do with the engine or other options. That is where the option numbers come into play like Z51, L88, ZR1, ZO6, L98 etc....

C1 = 53-62
C2 = 63-67
C3 = 68-82
C4 = 84-96
C5 = 97-04
C6 = 05-

C7? When they replace the C6

C5 & C6 engines

Base engines
LS1 = 5.7 lieter (346 cubic inch) @ 350bhp
LS2 = Upgraded LS1 with 400bhp - base engine after 2005
LS3 = The new base engine for the non-ZO6 cars with 430hp

ZO6
LS6 = Based on the LS1 for the C5 ZO6 with 375 or 405bhp depending on the year
LS7 = The current ZO6 engine with 7 liters

LS9 is the beafed up LS7 for the new ZR1

See my definition of "flex" above.

Surely you're not trying to tell me that the FIA-approved seats flex as much as those in a C5 or C6?

The LS2 is also a 6L. The first year of the LS6 (C5Z) had 385bhp, not 375. Everything else looks good!
